Infanticide

Hi, thanks for visiting this Myspace band page, commemorating the long lost band Infanticide. We were a band of young guys from Lørenskog, Norway, lasting from around 1992 to 1995, and we played death metal, mostly with a technical twist.
The core members of the band were Jarle G. Storløkken (guitars), Rolf Herø (vocals) and Hans Jørgen Ersvik (drums). Other members Kenneth, Erlend and Even were also in the band at different points; see the blog section for a detailed list.
Please note there was also another Norwegian Infanticide at the time. Remember there was no Metal Archives (or Internet) for reference, and neither were we part of any “scene” providing us with a chance to ask around if the name had already been used.
Unfortunately no photos exist of the band, but Infanticide played numerous live shows at local rock festivals, getting massive support from our classmates. And lots of these shows were video taped. Hopefully one day I will be able to put out some of this video footage here.
The music may at times not be perfectly executed, but please keep in mind we were all fairly young, all members are born around ‘77. The guitars are quite well played, though; Jarle was a bit of a guitar prodigy from early age, and even performed at the high rating youth program “Midt i smørøyet” on prime time national television.
Our first effort was a contribution to the local rock sample CD “Rock i fullt alvor”, recorded in 93 and released 94. The project was initiated by local associations Lørenskog interesseforening for amatørmusikere (LIFA) and Rockeverkstedet i Lørenskog. Our contribution track was called “Imperceptible shattering of innocence”, and is quite doomy old school death metal with fairly simple riffs and song structure.In 1994 we recorded our three track self titled demo. Unfortunately we employed an electronic drum set (a Roland TD-3), thus achieving, as far as I am concerned, a far too polished sound (at least on a CD-R copy, sounds a bit more organic on tape). The music is highly enjoyable, though; fairly technical death metal containing mostly topnotch memorable riffs.
Shortly after, a sequel to the first local sampler was planned, calling us to record our last effort, the track “Purification”. Unfortunately this release never materialized. This track has a bit more thrashy edge, and much of the technical stuff is gone.
We were quite happy with having recorded a real demo, and the father of one of our schoolmates drew a nice artwork for it. Unfortunately we had no contact with any scene, so we didn’t know how to promote it. Jarle was also getting tired of playing metal. In 1995 Infanticide disbanded. Jarle went on to become a professional jazz and rock musician, playing in heaps of projects such as Panzerpappa, Made In Corea and Christianssand String Swing Ensemble. Rolf is no longer an active musician, but still enjoys the good old music from the early 90’s. Hans Jørgen is still active in the death metal community, currently playing in the death metal band Diskord, the grindcore band Grind Crusher, and running the vinyl label No Posers Please!
