The band originally formed under the name Frost in 1996 with Harald (bass/vocals) and Anders (guitars) as the remaining original members. After two demo’s the band relocated to Oslo and went through some changes in lineup and musical direction.
Drummer Welle joined in 2003, and they began working towards a new musical path that should turn them into Imbalance. In early 2004 they recorded the 4 track EP "Burial of Conciousness". Shortly after, guitarist Thormodr joined the Band, and the quartet was again complete.
The fall of 2005 was devoted to live performances around Norway, taken over by the recording sessions for an upcoming EP in the beginning of 2006. "Bestial by Nature" was unleashed upon the world at the 2006 Inferno Festival, where Imbalance had the honour of being the opening act. The release of “Bestial by Nature†and the live performances to follow, showed the quartets more aggressive musical side. The three track EP blasts away and only lets up for the listener to breathe when done after 8 minutes. The EP was self-financed and recorded by Imbalance with Thormodr taking on the leading role as producer and engineer.
The fall 2006 has again been devoted to live shows, bringing the band way to even more towns an clubs around Norway, including a small tour with longtime friends, Keep of Kalessin.
After continued live shows, like local Oslo arenas, “The Night Of The Sick†– festival in Holland, and so on, guitarist and co-songwriter Anders decided to leave the band in mid-2007.
At the present Imbalance is hard at work as a Trio, strongly focused on completing material for their first full length album, to be recorded in April – July 2008, during different recording-sessions The new release will naturally stylistic represent music from both previous EPs, but furthermore new, raw and more aggressive music with higher elements of death metal. This long awaited LP will be due for release in the fall of 2008. Imbalance does not have a recording deal at this moment.
“Why this band is still unsigned remains nothing but a mystery. Their catchy and groovy style of intricate riffs, tight drumbeats, and snarly vocals should appeal to a wide array of fans.â€

“Given the advantage of the live arena, their well rehearsed and professional approach plus some nifty riffs, Imbalance have a winning live show. Certainly a band that I would cross the street to see again.â€
