Collecting girls on 45 and occasionally playing them in public, mid-century modern design, googie architecture, playing old fashioned board games, talking (usually too much), laughing (never enough), watching bands (I'm the one at the front yelling yoohoo 'cause I still can't whistle properly), dancing and playing the airguitar.
James Bond, John Steed, Emma Peel, Mary Quant, Captain Kirk and the genius who's going to invent the time machine.
50's and 60's garage, beat, rhythm'n'blues, northern soul, rockabilly, swing etc etc. But especially Girl Girls Girls! On vinyl please!! Some of my favourite girls at the moment are DeeDee Sharp, Terri Sharp, Velvelettes, Orlons, Jackie deShannon, Kathy Lynn & the Playboys, K-C-Ettes, Alma Cogan, Tracey Dey, Shirley Ellis, Billie Davis, Headcotees, Del-Monas, Christine Pilzer, Sylvie Vartan, Jacqueline Taieb, Bonnie St. Claire, the Girls, Jane Hillery, Crystals, Lulu, Dana Gillespie, Flirtations, Tabby Calvin, Shangri-las, Janis Martin, Kathy Zee, Merrilee & the Turnabouts, 2 of Clubs, Dooley Sisters, Miller Sisters, Lesley Gore, Brenda Lee, Liz Brady, Brenda Lee, Exciters, Adrienne Poster, Sheppard Sisters, Delicates and Kendall Sisters.
Everything by Tim Burton, Coen Brothers, Tarantino, Frank Tashlin (Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter!), Hitchcock, Ed Wood, sf, horror- and zombieclassics and other good oldfashioned movies that make me go to sleep with a big smile on my face. No boring arty-farty arthouse stuff by directors who take themselves far too seriously!
Mostly BBC comedies like Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Room 101, Shooting Stars, Kumars. And British Whodunits (also quite funny). And praise the lord for inventing VCR and DVD so I can watch old episodes of The Avengers, Batman, Man from UNCLE and Thunderbirds again and again (and probably again)!
I'm a bookaholic, I can't pass a bookstore without buying something. Mostly books about popculture design, architecture and collectables stacked with pictures that make your mouth water. I love everything by Jim Heimann and Alan Hess. Lots of whodunits and funny roaring twenties stuff (Evelyn Waugh, P.G. Wodehouse).
In surreal life: Emma Peel, Lady Penelope and Miss Moneypenny (ofcourse!)In Architecture: John Lautner, Bruce Goff, Eero Saarinen, Bond-designer Ken Adam and numerous lesser known mid century modern architects.
