Just because you're boring doesn't mean you're not crazy...

About Me

The best sit-com on TV, PEEP SHOW: ...............................So what is there to know? My musical tastes are as follows:pre-82 punk rock, pre-84 hardcore, proto-punk, early 80's British and Irish mod revival, psych, 60's pop, "Downer Music" AKA:Proto-metal, Junkshop Glam, UK DIY, Northern Soul, bubblegum, Goner Records, Horizontal Action, Terminal Boredom. BFTG/KBD.................................................... ............................................................ .............. Also, I have a rare, disabling metabolic condition called "porphyria" that effs with my health in a number of different directions, i.e.:skin problems, chronic insomina, stomach problems(I had two endoscopies before I was even 18), seizures... I dunno, I've had a lot of health problems, a LOT a lot ............................................................ ............................................................ ...........And oh yeah, I recently got sued for 160 million dollars(no joke), but my lawyer tells me I need to keep my mouth shut about such things(in public/print, at least) ............................................................ ............................................................ ......What else? Uhhh, my ideological bent is an earthy blend of the social sciences that bares all the earmarks, both positive & negative, of the autodidact. Primarily my interests lie in sociology, but overall I find the discipline to be lacking in moral evaluations of the subjects they observe. That's where psychology comes in, because what is THAT whole field than other than a new set of ethics? Its no longer "right & wrong", it's "healthy & unhealthy". Anyway, there's a decent amount of philosophy, economics & political science in the mix as well, but I'm not quite so well informed on those topics yet(hey, I'm still young). Anyway, like I said, it's pretty clear that I didn't go to college because I really have little interest in enforcing the part-imagined borders that separate each of these studies. Grand United Social Theory, mother fuckers... Of course, I'm getting pretty fucking pretentious here. Most of what I write(THINK?) probably qualifies more as PSEUDO-social science and owes a great debt to stand up comedy and pro-wrestling promo's. Can you be a sham when you admit to being a sham?

My Interests

my band: RAPID ADAPTER , music, punk rock, music history, nouvelle vague, new german cinema, documentary film, civilized formal debate, sociology, psychology, economics, freakonomics, criticism, skepticism, debunkers of all stripe, public speaking, heckling, character assassination, morality, rhetoric, ethics, propaganda, influence peddling, the PR industry, image consultants, basement shows, insult comedy, stand up, sketch comedy, insomnia, porphyria, pro-wrestling(ROH), cheap beer, Mama Cozzy's frozen Pizza...the usual...

I'd like to meet:

I'D LIKE TO MEET ENERGIZED, YOUNG, URBAN SINGLES WHO CAN HELP ME NETWORK MY WAY ALL THE WAY UP TO THE MIDDLE... But seriously though; I wanna meet interesting, well-read/well-researched people that I can learn something from. People that can state their views and actually back them up with a cogent argument ............................................................ ............................................................ .......... I wanna meet people that actually have some degree of self awareness and whom are actually TRYING to fight against their own shortcomings. Someone who's trying to "better" themselves and not just in a financial way. Someone "addicted to the fight". ............................................................ ............................................................ .......... Furthermore, I want to meet more harvesters; ya know, people that are always keeping an ear/eye open for some new material to "harvest" and turn into something creative. EXAMPLE:"Oh, you just said something quotable, I think I'll use that in a song." ............................................................ ............................................................ ..........Can I tell you who I DON'T wanna meet? People who never state their true opinions and just let their often times unfounded stances fester until they turn into a simmering hatred for another human being. I'll always go for the outright fight as opposed to the passive aggressive shit a lot of people engage in.

Usally any books on music history/industry, speficially punk rock stuff.. Any heavy handed social criticism, especially stuff that deflates old(or current) counter-cultural movements... Indie comics, but no super hero stuff... Psychology Texts, media studies...Histories of unsuccessful businesses, wrestler "auto"-biographies... I dunno, I'm alwasy reading 20 things all at the same time and I'm horrible at remembering author's names...

Heroes:

Primarily underdogs & unsung heroes. More specifically: Conan O'Brien, James Jamerson, Carol Kaye, Andy Kaufman, Dee Dee Ramone, modern day-lecture prone Bill Cosby, quality TV shows that get cancelled too early... Gee, why did I like Trio(RIP)?
