About Me

What is Neoclassical Metal?
It's a whole musical wave which was primarily born by guitarists like Ritchie Blackmore or Randy Rhoads who applied classical patterns inside Rock Music. However the genre became famous because of little Yngwie Malmsteen who once listened to a record by N. Paganini and tried to make his guitarplay sound close to the violin on the album. from the eighties till now, Neoclassical metal has progressed to a point where we can separate four schools: The European which is more focused to Yngwie and early Europe, The Japanese which has it's distinct vocal lines, epic riffs and arpeggios all the way, The American which is closer to typical shred and heavier and the South American which is more vintage sounding, with a lot of references to uncle Ritchie. For me it's a shame that such a musical movement often gets labeled as "Yngwie clones", which is something that only happens in neoclassical metal and is unfair for the musicians who dedicated so much time to reach that skill. I wonder why stoner rock bands aren't judged as Sabbath clones for example..
What is this page all about?
This is a tribute page for the gathering of any known or unknown musician and fan of this particular music genre. Our purpose is to promote, to suggest and to make new friends that share the same passion for neoclassical metal music. When I was younger, we didn't have all this info the internet provides.. we were searching in the dark with fanzines, some small mag columns and record shop owners as our guides. Now it's much easier, still for someone who cannot spend all his time searching for bands it's hard to get informed. If just one person finds a single band that he or she will love from this page, then I will be satisfied. We will be constantly trying to promote everything that falls upon our ears and makes us feel warm inside.
Godspeed
