About Me

Monkey was the name given by my oh so fantastic girlfriend of which the name has stuck and become not only my DJ name but seems name 4 life.Well where to Start?? I came to Liverpool 5 years ago originally to learn to become a primary teacher...Ha ha ha(dis is true), I then had a placement in a REAL school n decided i dont even like the people i wanna help. So I bummed about a bit.I began the Bar Cava open mic on a sunday n wednesday with my limited talent and plenty of tunes printed off tut net... I met Collen who with his help we began to build numbers and quite a partnership (ya should check out our harmonies).This gave me the passion to promote. Since which I have been involved with a fair few nights around town, from acoustic to Drum n Bass.Most notably the 'Liverpool Tsunday' the tsunami benfit gig in zanzibar headlined by The Zutons.Now:? I'm Cava's DJ 5 hrs 3 nights week of the most ecclectic mash up of da tunes. I am a very experienced sound engineer and currently in cahoots with fellow Einsteins over taking over the world.Platform Radio has become my major Project. A radio staion based about the music arts and talent of Liverpool soon to be launched on www.platformradio.com This could be the stem of the biggest arts and music collective in the north west.As well as working as part of a Media collective www.minds-eye-media.co.uk

THe King Of Kings Roni Size, DJ Zinc, Patife, DJ marky, The Nextmen, Roots manuva, Braintax, Portishead, Massive Attack, Finley Quaye (only really maveric a strike album but it never gets old) Quantic (especially with spanky wilson), Quasimoto, The Postal Service, Bjork, Dj shadow, UNKLE, Vitalic, Aphex Twin, Easy star allstars, Jurassic 5, Ugly Duckling, pharcyde. This is stoopid the list is endless from bob dylan to drum n bass with a splashing of reggae a pinch of dub a dollop of hip hop all finished of with a sprinkling of the breaks.

Movies:

Hmmm now back to the old skool i would have to choose apocolypse now (i know its spelt wrong), The Crow, The Lost Boys, Friday, Dazed and confused(went thru 3 videos of this), Bruce Lee is a legend' as are the baby cart and the river stix series. Ong Bak, thai movies have become well funded and will get bigger over the next few years. N the Kung Fu series like, Kung Fu Hustle, Kung Fu Mah Jong and Shaolin Soccer.

Heroes:

Roni Size for if it wernt for him the beats just wouldnt be phat enuff, Mr Thing (what a Dj 'and what a shell toe selection, All power to the 3 stripes, Bob marley (you who know me will know why) and in that same breath Lee scratch Perry, Chali 2na ( if i could ever rap that deep i'd die a happy man.
