The Winter Dark out now!

About Me

Derwent River Star have just completed the recording of their debut album 'The Winter Dark' with producer Tony Dupe. It will be released on the heavy label, distributed by Fuse, on 1/3/08 or thereabouts, and launched on the 12/3. Derwent River Star are a Sydney-based 5 piece band that play a sort of atmospheric, folk-influenced (post-) rock music. They supplement and ornament a drums/bass/ guitar core with melodic female vocals, various stringed instruments, glockenspiel, and melodica in songs that exploit a wide dynamic range and considerable instrumental interplay. Since its inception, the band has found success in the Sydney University Band Comp (2004 winner); and played numerous gigs around inner Sydney venues including the Hopetoun, Gaelic Club, Spectrum, and Annandale Hotel (both support and headline slots).
