"Jazz Rainbow" The Latest CD by Jason Rebello

About Me

Biography courtesy of All Music Guide... "Rebello started playing classical piano when he was nine, became interested in folk and soul, and at the age of 16 (when he first heard Herbie Hancock) he switched to jazz. At the age of 19 Rebello became the first jazz musician to secure a place at England’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama as a classical student. He gained experience working as a sideman with a variety of top Americans including James Moody, Bud Shank, Art Blakey, Gary Burton, Branford Marsalis and Wayne Shorter and most of the top English jazz musicians including Tommy Smith, Cleveland Watkiss, Steve Williamson and Alec Dankworth. In addition in the 1990’s, Jason Rebello headed both an Acoustic Trio and an Electric Band (a la Chick Corea) and was not shy to show off his love of r&b and soul music. More recently he’s been seen on tour with artists such as Sting, Madeleine Peyroux and Jeff Beck" Jazz Rainbow is a charming and witty re-imagining of classic children’s theme tunes. Jason Rebello’s virtuoso performance will be enjoyed by all the family, moving from the sublime to the plain silly and back again in a matter of bars. Every track brings a smile of recognition, even as it surprises you with its reinvention of these much loved children’s tunes.
