About Me

Born in New York City into a musical family, Alex Nolan began studying guitar at age seven. After performing in local jazz and rock bands as a teenager, she continued her musical studies in college. Alex graduated magna cum laude from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where she studied with L.A. guitarists Steve Trovato, Richard Smith, and Pat Kelley.Immediately following graduation, Alex toured as the lead guitarist with the seven-piece all-girl country band “Mustang Sally” (based out of Nashville). While on tour, she opened for major acts such as Hootie & The Blowfish, Big & Rich, Lonestar, Montgomery Gentry, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and .38 Special.As a solo artist, she has recorded two EP’s, on which she performed, wrote, arranged, and co-produced. Alex has served on the faculty of the National Guitar Workshop and is currently an online teacher for Workshoplive.com. Alex also serves as the VP of Creative Affairs for Mamalahoa Publishing in Los Angeles.Most recently, Alex she been on tour with Country Artist Katie Armiger.
