Born and raised in Tampa, FL, Ryan Prado always had a creative eye. After graduating from The University of South Florida in the Spring of 2005 with a BFA in Fine Arts, Ryan continued to pursue his artistic dreams. His photography has been showcased at the Tampa Museum of Art, on the cover of the Tampa Tribune’s Friday Extra and in numerous local and national galleries. Always emphasizing color and content, Ryan’s work ranges from the comical to the heartfelt. Influences include fashion, music, pop culture and the work of his heroes Guy Bourdin and Pierre et Gilles. Whether feeding a young starlet to an inflatable shark or portraying a human cuckoo clock, his images represent personal memories and experiences that he hopes the viewer can relate to and walk away with a smile on their face. Lush colors, lavish settings, and beautiful models are just window dressing for the deeper meanings in his images. If you look hard enough you may see personal heartache, some kind of irrational fear or a fantasy that comes to life in an unconventional way. In the future, Ryan hopes to continue allowing viewers a glimpse into his world through his provocative yet endearing images. His works reach back to the 1950s and the time of pinups for their inspiration, presenting the models in highly eroticized but deliberately arranged poses.
