"LAST RESORT" TOUR - MAY 2008!

About Me

Formed in Minneapolis, MN in the summer of 1997, Self-evident have since developed and begun to apply a unique, intricate, and smart formula to standard rock songwriting, conjuring music that is very resistant to categorization.
Variously described as punk, indie, jazz, post, math, noise, and art-rock, Self-Evident are perhaps more aptly dubbed "transcendental", encompassing all of these styles and more-often in a single three minute song. The instrumentation is simple: bass/vocals, guitar/vocals, and drums.
Somewhat sparse vocals serve to compliment and bring structure to instrumental parts. Their major influences run the gamut, some notable ones including Fugazi, Shudder To Think, Rush, Faraquet, Casket Lottery, The Dismemberment Plan, Karate, Sharks Keep Moving, and Don Caballero.
Self-evident have played over 500 shows in 17 states with countless bands such as Don Caballero, Oxes, Juno, Chokebore, Local H, Bad Wizard, The Vida Blue (Ten Grand), Life And Times, Houston, Traindodge, Dropsonic, Riddle of Steel, House Of Large Sizes, STNNNG, and Story of the Sea to name a few.
Multiple full length albums and EPs have been released since their conception in 1997 including the following: "The Arrogance Of The Common Professional (EP)" - Self-Released (1999), "What We Sound Like" - Doom Nibbler Records (2000), "Direct (EP)" - Blue Worm Records (2001), "Angular" - Blue Worm Records (2003), and "Epistemology" - Doubleplusgood Records (2005). Since 1997, Self-Evident has also been involved with multiple compilation CDs, split CDs, and promotional releases.
The summer of 2006 brought the departure of Brian Heitzman, original drummer of 9+ years. Long time pal and hot rocker Ben Johnston of Clair de Lune immediately came to the rescue and has since brought a new life and approach to the band.
In November of 2006, Self-Evident recorded 19 songs with Carl Amburn at The Mousetrap in Oklahoma City for the completion of their 4th full length album. The self-titled album was released on Doubleplusgood Records of Minneapolis on April 24, 2007 and is distributed in the U.S. by Southern, Carrot Top, Choke, Stickfigure and now in Japan by Stiff Slack. More and more tour dates are upcoming to correlate with this recording and release.
Self-Evident continues to write / record new material and constantly play live all over the country.

Sounds Like: To buy self-evident's new record "Self-Evident - Self-Evident" on iTunes ...click here... ..............................To buy self-evident's not so new (but equally awesome) record "Self-Evident - Epistemology" on iTunes... click here... .........................After doing so you'll better know what we sound like and be less likely to ask us that question. Not that we mind being asked that question. I know I'm fine with it-but I don't want to speak for everybody so let me talk to the rest of the guys at practice tonight and see what they think. It's just that if you buy two (or even one for that matter) of our records, I'm assuming you'd have a general grasp of what we're about, you know? I'm just saying...................................................... .....................

SELF EVIDENTLY Ox-Fanzine/expenditure 72 amazing, which the change of only one musician from an album can constitute to the next. In this case it was a schlagzeuger Brian Heitzman, which was replaced after nine years by Ben John clay/tone (CLAIRE DE LUNE). SELF EVIDENTLY belong for one decade to volume, which let Fuenfe straight be gladly times - which concerns the clock! Cosy head nodding is not there announced, on the contrary one can be safe never, which idiom a reef or a Song to take to be able. The roots are in the hard core, with the prefixes however one large trouble gave themselves: Jazz -, post office -, Math -, Noise etc.. Contrary to many other modern representatives of these guilds the music of the Trios is free from any Snobismus - simply hair-styles and clothes co-ordinated one on the other go around the Songs, not around. If it happened however in former times every now and then quite wildly and technically, Ben with its play technology gives the tricky Songs of the Trios a reassuring painting. Unfortunately in addition, a little produces a contradiction, which is interesting, the tension torpediert, which developed before. Nevertheless that is here a good album, which has evenly its new, own attraction. (34:22) (7) (Christian Meiners) © by OX-FANZINE/expenditure 72
