Biography:
Ophis [greek: snake, serpent] stand for a mixture of monolithic, depressive Doom Metal and raw, aggressive old school Death Metal far beyond any mainstream and serve as an outlet for its members’ very own emotions.
The band was formed as a four-piece in late 2001 but remained unheard due to an early split.
In 2002 founder Philipp resurrected the band from the dead and recorded the Demo-CD “Empty, Silent And Cold”, performing all instruments, vocals and production on his own. The CD gained huge success in the international underground and Metal press.
Ophis re-emerged as a full band again in 2003 and in December 2004 the MCD “Nostrae Mortis Signaculum” was released on Cxxt Bxxcher Records and gained even more success and respect than “Empty...”.
In early 2007 Ophis signed to Imperium Productions and the first full length album “Stream Of Misery” was released in early October.
