"INCESSANT SPINNING" is the new record by Canadian/Spanish singer/song-writer Luthea Salom. This new work clearly reflects Luthea's strong, emotive and original music. It presents an artist able to create a luminous record, full of snapshots and soundscapes, through a collection of songs that from first listen resound inside leaving the listener with small sparkles of images and poetry.
* BIO LUTHEA
In Luthea's life a nomadic and bohemian spirit is very present. From the way she writes her songs one can recognise a multicultural artist, having grown up, travelled and lived in different parts of the world. All of this mix is clearly portrayed in her songs, providing her music with a special charisma.
Luthea was raised in Canada and later on moves to Spain, especifically to Barcelona, where her parents are originally from and where they decided to permanently settle. Luthea grew up in an artistic environment surrounded by paintors and writers, and after spending a few years in this city adapting to the new culture and language, Luthea gave her life a new and unexpected twist by moving to London, UK. There is where she grew as an artist, spending most of her time writing songs, playing live and collaborating with other local artists. After this stage of her life she once more decided to embrace a new culture and moved to yet another city: New York, where she has recorded her two albums and has slowly been capturing the attention of the media and receiving a warm welcome by North American audiences.
Her vital experience formed by this magical triangle formed between Barcelona, London and New York has been a major contribution to the development of her artistic intuition and special creative universe, which seeps through the uniqueness of her songwriting and the interpretation of her music.
The home of this restless singer/songwriter is currently between Barcelona and New York. "I feel half North American and half Mediterranean. Its the best way Im able to define myself".
* FIRST MUSIC STEPS
Luthea started her music career at a very young age. At 13 she was already the singer and guitar player of a young jazz formation. From here she starts to perform at different festivals around Spain and to collaborate in serveral local rock bands. She moved to London joining Bo Waltons band as well as others while she also continues to perform as opening act for Jefferson Starship, Nils Lofgren, UFO and Alanis Morissette. In year 2001 she records her first record Out of Without produced by grammy award winning producer Malcolm Burn (Iggy Pop, Patti Smith and Emmylou Harris). Also appearing on the album are musicians Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams producer) and Jane Scarpantoni (Sheryl Crow, David Bowie and Lou Reed). Luthea has continued to preform live throughout Spain as well as the US and Canada, where she recently shared the stage with Emmylou Harris in a Benefit Concert held in Deep River, Ottawa.

In her new album INCESSANT SPINNING, Luthea portrays herself just the way she is: a great observer of the world surrounding her and the world inside of her, the same one she so desperately tries to discover to then discover to us.
This new work of 13 songs transmits the surprising energy she gives off when playing her guitar together with the original and free melodic songs, all lead by a sultry and at the same time, cutting voice that can sometimes be sweet and others be sour, but always painfully honest.
The album was produced by Malcolm Burn as well as Luthea herself, and was recorded both in Skopje, Macedonia and Kingston, NY.
The art of this young singer/songwriter relies on that desperate need of expression so typically found in artists, giving as a result a collection of powerful and rare lyrics. Her writing can be found somewhere between poetry and essay, between fiction and confession, touching a wide range of subjects: loss of innocence, growth, the passing and fear of time, or the biggest contradictions found in life and in the human soul. All of it joined together by the same axis: that surprisingly sweet and sour optimism so typical in Luthea.
This unique combination of her melodies and her words is what makes this artist so different and outstanding. Luthea is an artist worth discovering.
