About Me

With low-tech, do-it-yourself spirit in an easygoing setting, Anatomy Riot is an ongoing (almost) monthly dance/performance series, curated by choreographer Meg Wolfe & guest curators. AR started in October 2005; since that time, over 200 artists have performed at Anatomy Riot. AR encourages creative exploration and provides a platform for local artists to share what's new and what's in the works; you, dear audience, are spared from the high ticket prices and seat-squirming formality of a more traditional theater setting, while seeing a diversity of works by up-and-coming & seasoned artists.
new dances, right before your very eyes.

"Anatomy Riot's "grab a drink and sit a spell" philosophy is just the sort of shot in the arm that the Los Angeles dance scene needs. Curator Meg Wolfe's choice of bar-type environments acts as the impetus for creative experimentation and lively discussion. Anatomy Riot can seem a down-and-dirty approach to dance presentation, but who better to get down and dirty than a bunch of dancers?" (flavorpill l.a., 2006)
"The delicate efforts of trained dancers are often cast to the sleepy stages of upper-crust universities or, worse, squandered in cheesy adaptations of Disney films. But dancer/choreographer Meg Wolfe , a former New York powerhouse who recently moved to LA, gives modern dance a much-needed jumpstart, curating Anatomy Riot " (flavorpill l.a., 2005)

hi past & future anatomy riotists,
As you may know, we've had performers visiting from San Diego for a couple of shows, as an exchange with the 4x4 series there. 4x4 was inspired by Anatomy Riot, and is directed by Liam Clancy and administered by Sushi Art and Performance.
http://www.sushiart.org/index.html
4x4 happens the second TUESDAY each month.
The stage is VERY small, only 4 feet x4 feet, it is in the center of the room, so the audience is on all sides.
If this particular scenario interests you, and you want to perform in San Diego at this event, let me know. 4x4 will pay a small fee towards transportation.

My Interests

choreographers/performers who are rigorously investigating/experimenting/playing/messing around with form content context time gender space culture race perception politics video/film text sound......and those who love them! musicians, costumers, artists, poets, collaborators, observers.......and if you want to support our creativity, we would lovingly accept your spare cash :) really.
