Cherie D'Avino advances in the Jazz/ Funk genre.
Born in the UK into an Anglo Italian musical family, she has been influenced by many cultures and experiences, from living and breathing the culture of Mexico to appreciating the delicacy of European life.
At the tender age of 16, Cherie was taken under the wing of Junior Delgado, working alongside him and his team, where he would co write with her, nurturing her and helping her through her development. She is forever grateful for his belief in her and thanks him in her prayers. R.I.P Junior Delgado.
Having worked the London music scene and attended London's key performing arts academy WAC, Belsize Park, alongside fellow students such as Miss Dynamite, and Kevin from The Streets and also worked with successful artists such as Angie Brown, Cleveland Watkiss and Mary Pierce, more recently working with fellow English signed artist Vanessa Brown (EMI Publishing), where they collaborated on Everyday, Did You Ever Care and New York, New York.
In 2003 Cherie also performed at the Royal Albert Hall (Chariot of Fire Show) In tribute of the 9/11 tragedy directed by Tano Rea. This gave Cherie that extra fire in her belly to take the next big step as an independent artist.
This subsequently led her to New York (2004/5), where she developed her cross-Atlantic style, working with New York's hard-core inner music circle. This enabled her to experience the live mic sessions in various popular joints. This sparked an approach by Nick Guerrero (Nity Entertainment), where she co-wrote with East Coast rapper M.E.R.G.E, infusing her sound of jazz and Hip-hop.
These successes opened a door to working on various high profile projects with Universal Music Producer Chiba Antoine, former member of the Urbanhitmen producing for Brandy, Lauryn Hill and Destiny's Child.
With a strong fan base firmly established on the other side of the Atlantic she decided to return back to London to lay the foundations to her career on home soil where she is active on the circuit having graces venues with her breathtaking 'unplugged' sets in various locations including, Mic Club@The Telegraph - Brixton (voted Top 5 in the Metro for best "live" night, 2004), Isobar (South Bank University), Hackney Empire(291 Variety Show),G Lounge(Camden) and the popular Cobden Club (Westbourne Park).
