Definition of Cruelty was born in February of 2001. The band was formed due to frustrations of many projects that didn't quite work out.
The original lineup was: Mike Moore (bass), Chuck Myers (guitars), Kevin Pederson (guitars), Alex Ibarra (percussion) & Bryon Frampton (vocals). They wrote and recorded DOC's first self- titled album which went to studio in the fall of 2002.
Like many other bands, D.O.C. has had their share of ups and downs. The original lineup was broken apart in December of 2002 as Kevin and Bryon parted ways with the group for personal reasons.
The band percevered and added guitar player Darrel Peckham and singer Josh Loverink in early 2003 and continued to push new ground.
The band embarked on a series of shows, taking them from Minneapolis to Des Moines and every town in between.
The band recieved their first good "break" in December of 2003 as they opened the night for V-Shaped Mind and Anthrax at the legendary Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, IA. Coincidentally, the original singer (Bryon Frampton) was installed back into the lineup only days before that big show.
Since December of 2003, the band has opened for more national acts such as Superjoint Ritual and WASP.
In September of 2004 the band parted ways with rythm guitarist Darrel and vocalist Frampton.
Since then they have added new vocalist, Rick Pierce, and stripped down to one guitar player. Most recently, Rich Mirelli left DOC for personal reasons, and brought upon the return of Mike Moore. The band released their 2nd CD in 2006 and hope to continue the promotion of head banging throughout North Iowa and the rest of the world.
