Whisky Fever was started in 2007 by Local Demise, Trenton NJ. Our goal is to throw NJ shows, meet a lot of great bands, drink a lot of beer, and have a great time in this wasteland that many of us call the NJ music scene. We actually care about the local bands and about developing the NJ music scene. Right now we have been working with Vibe Cafe to host Sinister Sundays on the last Sunday of every month at the Mill Hill Basement in Trenton NJ. Within the next two months, we are planning to expand to 2 dates a month, then possibley three or four afterwards.
Not only do we throw shows, but we also have a small recording setup (all recent Local Demise recordings were done there), and are getting into video producing and editing. In late spring of 2008 we plan on releasing a compilation DVD featuring local bands, local skateboarders, bikers, and snowboarders, and anything else crazy that we can pack into this feature length production!
Who we want to work with:
•Bands - We are looking for bands who work hard and play hard. We'll do our absolute best to pack the house and so should you. There won’t be a scene if people don’t work together! We treat our bands very well; we are all in bands and we know what it’s like. There is no "pay to play." If we make a guarantee, that money is paid upfront, and every band gets a fair cut from the door. Whisky Fever takes NO CUT from the door. We do this to meet people and have a great time at shows. "United we are strong, divided we will fall!"
•Local Filmers and Photographers - We want your work! Not just of our shows but from any local show! Even footage of local skaters, bikers, snowboarders - whatever you feel should be in the public domain. We will post as much as we can.
•Local Music Promoters - Good promoters that care about our scene like Terry from Dead Scene Productions, Malcolm from Beatbush Productions, Dave Locane from Basement Up Productions, and Michelle from Nice Guy Booking. We want to collaborate, not compete! If you’re promoting a show, or are in a band playing a show you want to promote, send us the info and we’ll post it. It doesn’t matter if we’re hosting or not, this is about making the scene stronger!
•Local Skaters, Bikers, Snowboarders, or any other extreme athletes - Send us your footie! We will post your videos and include your clips in films we make. Hit us up!!!
Who we WILL NOT work with:
•Promoters who rip off and use bands for their own personal profit. That is one of the main reasons that there is no unity and therefore no scene in NJ.
•Bands who wait outside or wait upstairs until their set time, then bail right when they are done. If you can’t support your scene, why should anyone support you? This is another main reason that there is no scene in NJ.
•Bands that cancel for stupid reasons or just don’t show up at all. If you’re not gonna show up for something you booked... don’t book it. Don’t give us the headache of replacing you last minute; it’s not fair to us nor the last minute replacement acts.
Negative stuff aside, Lets get together and make the NJ scene the way it used to be!!!
