Mantora officially formed in Maidstone, Kent from the ashes of former band; Incipid. Although Incipid were progressing musically, they felt they lacked the raw energy and power that now exudes from Mantora.
Evolving from a four piece and hiring Darren Smith originally as bass player Mantora set about creating and defining a sound that is now familiar among local music fans. The bands sound is drawn from metal influences such as Lamb of God, Arch Enemy, Chimaira and Cradle of Filth.
After a series of well received gigs problems arose with ex singer Rob Williams. The band agreed that if they were to progress further they needed dedication from all members, it was agreed at this time to part company with the current singer and seek a replacement. In turn Darren stepped up to the challenge of fronting the band on temporary basis. The transition from bass to vocals worked better than the band anticipated, with Darrens powerful vocals, dark lyrics and charismatic stage performances the band decided to look for a new bass player instead. After much searching, they finally found bassist Andy Hirst.
With a line-up that the band now feel is as close to perfect as they could wish, they have since set about writing new material, toning their sound and making a name for themselves by gigging furiously.
