First impressions are important. Most people would think: Hey - she's just like Tracy Chapman! Really, it might be just the hair and the darker skin. Once you get past the initial look of this singer songwriter; you will recognize the many differences. Continuing fans and new beleivers have describe what they hear in one word- Powerhouse. "Once you've heard this girl sing - it's like nothing else." As Chris like's to put it, "If you got soul, then sing from the heart. That's the only way I know how. I don't write songs just because I have ideas running around in my head. I don't write because I have something to say and others need to hear it. I write songs and sing because I can't find the spoken words to express what I'm really trying to say. Which sometimes turns out to be more lyrically profound than speaking them." Her musical influences stem from sounds all around the globe, and yet her unique sound is a blend of homegrown specialties.
Chris' musical heritage does not stem from a long line of family musicians. She started playing the violin at the age of 11 and has continued to broaden her classically trained style by branching into jazz, bluegrass, and jam band. In years to follow, she would pursue guitar. Listen to the sound you will hear definite blend of “ol' school†soul with a new edge of a classic style of rock. You may eventhink of it as soul music with a heart of rock n' roll. The sound is somewhat provocative and controversial because the music and words at times is playful, suggestive, and bold. If you like your music how you take you coffee then you can relate to the sound and enjoy the experience........if you get the drift.
