Little Volcanoes started in 2004 as a four piece band made up of four European musicians who wrote wonderfully eccentric guitar pop music. The lyrics dealt with the day to day lives of people left by the way side in the world race to be conventional. Despite being out of step with current trends they still managed to get some radio play on Xfm with the single 'Can we do it again'. They had their self produced video played by the BBC on the big screen in Central Manchester, whilest BBC Online reviewed the band play at the live rooms for a HMV/Kerrang Showcase gig in 2006 (see www.myspace.com/littlevolcanoes and find relevant blog)While the band had built up a fan base on it's way through 2005/06 it had to take a break in 2007 due to drummer Jonas Backman being offered session work with Don Felder (Of 70's supergroup fame The Eagles) This signalled the original line up to disband and work on other projects, realising the line up as it stood was over.
Instead of calling it a day with Little Volcanoes, singer Philip Quinn recruited some new faces to the band and went about writing new material to go back into the studio with Jon Rose (Ex Bass player with Little Volcanoes, who incidentally had turned his talents to producing other acts) to record the new songs. The outcome being the poppy and insanely catchy Scars. With a chorus that's addictive as crack and a strategic falsetto holler, Scars looks set to replace 'Can we do it again' as a fans favourite. The first co-written song between Chris Fry and Philip Quinn is the swooping and majestic 'Stranger than Hollywood'. It is a beautifull and perverse love song to Manchester, taking in all the sights, sounds and experiences an alien city brings. The band has just finished recording a new E.P. at Inch Studios, Manchester and have played numerous live sessions on All FM. Little Volcanoes are now working closely with Anglo/Canadian distribtuion company Divirta and have had serious interest from major labels. With reviews coming up in the near future your going to be hearing a lot more about L/V's.
