Reflecting on the past to make way for the future, MaK1nA (pronounced mah-kee-nah) is the brainchild of one Ray Perez. After working on several failed project ideas (L.I.V. (Love In Vein), P301), Ray began working on MaK1nA in the summer of 2000. MaK1nA originally began as a harsh EBM/noise project however over time it has evolved into it’s current and most permanent form of an EBM/Future-pop project. With the aid of Bea W., Ray wrote the first MaK1nA track, Absolution, in the same summer of the project’s inception. Many revisions later, he released the completed vocal version of Absolution, along with several instrumental demo versions of MaK1nA material on a limited CD-R, Aural Stimulus, in 2004. Later on in the same year he finished work on the second vocal single, Salvation. This was followed up with Truth Be Told in the Spring/Summer of ’04.
On June 18, 2004, MaK1nA made its’ official live debut at Traxx Lounge in Lyndhurst, NJ. With good friend Dan K. on laptop and keyboards, MaK1nA made a memorable and successful debut in the goth/industrial scene. In December of the same year, MaK1nA debuted in NYC at Wild Spirit. For that show, former Cenotype member Bea W. performed keyboards duty. Since then she has become a permanent member of the MaK1nA live set-up. In February of 2005, Ray teamed up with former Digital By Demand member Dave Sierra and MaK1nA ceased being a solo project in the studio.
Now looking forward to a brighter future, MaK1nA is gearing up, and getting ready for a musically emotional experience never before conceived.
