Gaia Fallen

Windsor's Progressive Metal Band

About Me

Gaia Fallen is now looking for a bass player. E-mail [email protected] if interested.
Formed in July 2004, Gaia Fallen started without a name, without a direction, and without promise. The original line up consisted of Rob Revnic on drums, Dave Bauer on bass, and James Zedd on guitars. After months of practice, the band began to take shape by covering late 80's metal (mostly Slayer and Judas Preist) and through a vigorous practice schedule. Gaia Fallen (then unnamed) made it their mission to deliver music that was both heavy and intriguing to their audience, for all members of the band had love for both the melodic side of metal, as well as the chaotic edge that gave it character. A band name was agreed upon by the original members one year after the band had been together, and shortly after came the band's first release - the Red Water EP. This album was distributed free of charge by the band members to anyone who showed thier interest in the band (the album can still be obtained in the same manner to this day). But it was only a stepping stone for Gaia Fallen. Immediately afterwards, the band hit the jam space again in another effort to create something heavy and intriguing. Ideas flourished, and both string and drum were stricken, but the band met with some unfortunate circumstances.
At the beginning of 2006, original bass player Dave Bauer decided to leave the band. This set back Rob and James to the point where they were forced to abandon their jam space and seek other means of aquiring members. Soon afterwards, Sean Korpsen filled the position, and jamming resumed in Rob's basement. After months of practice, the band decided to release another EP, titled Seeds of Promise. The EP would have four tracks on it, and would be distributed in much the same manner as the Red Water EP, but due to conflicting work shifts and school schedules, the band could not practice to the point of precision, nor raise the funds, that would be required to record their release.
This did not stop Gaia Fallen. After recording the drum tracks at Spectre Sound Recording Studios, it was the band's decision to still have a release at the end of 2006. Shortly afterwards came the idea for an internet release of only one song of the four that were scheduled to appear on the Seeds of Promise EP. It was agreed upon, and the Discernemt Release 2006 was underway. James Zedd completed the remainder of guitar and bass recordings for the release at his home studio, while relying on Academy Studios to record his vocals. Once everything was arranged to his liking, James began mixing and mastering the song with less than a week left in the year. Determined to have the song released before 2007, it was posted on myspace and ready for distribution at 11:59PM on December 31, 2006.
Sean Korpsen has stepped down from his position as bass player since the release, but Gaia Fallen continues to practice and write new material. It's goal is to bring music, both heavy and intriguing, to the minds of all whom choose to listen. It serves as a determinating factor, and will be present in all of the music the band puts forward.
