Born on March 9, 1981, James Zedd grew up in Kitchener, Ontario. He first discovered his passion for music when he was 17 by immitating other musicians and dreaming of performing on stage with them. He then began to train his vocals and start a band with a few friends from school, but circumstances were not suiting at that time, and the band was forced to move on. Over the next few months, a great period of despair overcame him, and he was forced away from his hometown, friends, and dreams. James stayed in Hamilton, Ontario and Simcoe, Ontario, but called neither a home. He felt a lot of guilt in his life, stemming from the fact that he'd left high school without graduating, was living in unsanitary places, and over the death of his father. But through the 3 years when he was lost to the world, he managed to pick up a guitar and learn to play. After a year of unformal, self-training, he and some friends who had the same interests in music as him formed a band. Although persistent, the band P.U.o.A. (Postal Union of Assholes) only managed to play 2 gigs in it's 2 years of existance. The band later decided to throw in the towel, as James Zedd had plans to relocate.
Over the 3 years when James was without home, family, or stable plans for his future, he was given hope and ambition by caring people who took the time to listen to him and give honest advice. These people empowered him to change his life for the better, and urged him to move forward with new strength. Over time, James discovered this strength within himself, and soon changed his philosophies on life. Since then, he became successful in almost every endeavor he has undertaken, ranging from becoming a lifeguard, to making new friends, and finding an overall purpose in his life: to create sound. Finally, after 3 years of discovery, study, and anticipation, he left his shelter and headed for Windsor, Ontario in January 2002.
With a new beginning in a new city, James wasted no time to progress forward. He was reaquainted with his mother, quickly found employment, met new friends, and began to further his desire to become the best musician he could be. In July 2004, he formed the bandGaia Fallenwith friends Rob Revnic and (now departed) Dave Bauer, a band he stilll works with and hopes will reach collossal heights. With what spare time he has between working and hanging out with close friends, he works on blending different music styles in his home office, specifically dedicated to the production of high quality audio. As time goes by, James hopes to gain knowledge in producing, engineering, and mastering audio, until there are no boundaries left to cross in the world of audio production.
He still works hard towards that goal today; climbing his mountain, one step at a time.
