About Me

Cinzia Tedesco Singer, but also lyric composer and theatre musical performer with also a degree in Computer Science, represents a professional figure of a thousand facets. The fundamental common denominator of her multiple activities is music, that is "Good Music", to which she devotes all his creative energy. Cinzia's artistic endeavours started when his father Nicola discovered her a “talented 5 years old baby” and let her grow singing. Basically self taught, Tom Jones, Aretha Franklin, Steve Wonder and Ella Fitzgerald were her first influences and Cinzia tried at age 11 to learn their song and to sing them... So young but so near in her heart to the everlasting soul/blues music. She studied classical guitar and also attended the University in Bari gaining a degree in Computer Science with the highest score while playing in clubs with Mario Rosini, Paolo Romano, Pino Fazio, Mimmo Campanale and many other well known musicians "Pugliesi". After having left Bari, Cinzia went to Rome and started focusing her musical evolution on Jazz, a music able to free her creative singing. Her undisputed talent has been recognized not only by public but also by critics and National Media. Today Cinzia is recognized as “the new talent of the Italian Vocal Jazz” (RAI2 television) . She moves between “tradition and originality” (La Repubblica) thanks to her “complete and powerful vocal instrument” (JazzIT) , to her “great personality” (Musica Jazz) “with a black power..” (L’Informazione). Cinzia is “one of the most interesting Italian jazz artist” (La Repubblica) thanks to her “melodic attitude joint to a fascinating scat let her voice be an instrument” (JazzIT). ”So swinging!...” (Messaggero), “she touches the listeners with her wonderful interpretation…” (Il Piccolo), with a “brilliant talent” (La Stampa) and with an “...extraordinary voice.. able to interpreter with passion” (La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno). Cinzia is well known in Italy thanks also to her radio interview (Radio3 RAI, Radio Capital, Radio Rock, RadioNorba) and live radio performance (“In diretta da Via Asiago”; “Otto Volante” on Radio 2 Rai) and National TV show participation (“Numero 1” - RAI 1, “Il piacere dell’Estate”- RAI 2, MIZAR-TG2, RAI News 24, Rai SAT2000, UNO MATTINA – Rai 1 and TG3). As a singer-songwriter Cinzia has performed in many outstanding theatres and jazz-clubs all over Italy including the most important Jazz Festival: Festival di Spoleto (2002), Jazz & Image di Villa Celimontana a Roma (2000, 2002, 2003, 2005), Festival di Montalcino (2002), Rassegna Jazz di Senigallia (2002), Festival Jazz di Crotone (2002), Festival Jazz di Monteroduni (2000), Rassegna di Pelasgia ad Alatri (2002), Leuciana Festival (2003), Rassegna di Castelbasso (2003), Festival di Pestum (2003), Bussi Jazz (2003), Livorno Jazz (2004), Il Calore del Jazz –Teatro Rossini (2004), Festival Jazz di Calvì in Corsica (1999, 2001,2007), Classicum Jazz Garden (2004), PugliaJazz 2005, TALOS Festival (2005), Casa del Jazz (2006), Auditorium Parco della Musica di Roma (dic 2005, mar 2006, dic2006, dic 2007), SALT Jazz Festival (2006), Premio del Lavoro (Auditorium Parco della Musica-RAI2- dic2007), Notte di Stelle (Teatro Sistina 2008) Today she is one of the most preferred “big band jazz singer” and collaborates with the “Roma Jazz Ensemble” owned by Pietro Iodice and Mario Corvini, that has became the PMJO (Parco della Musica Jazz Orchestra) of the well known Auditorium of Rome. Cinzia’s undisputed theatrical talent , musical sensibility and versatile talent let her work also with big actors like Piera degli Esposti and directors like Antonio Calenda in the musical “Fin De Siecle” in tour in 1999 and 2000. Among the artists she collaborated with, we remember: Pino Iodice, Shawnn Montero, Stefano Sabatini, Carl Anderson, Dominique di Piazza, Dario Rosciglione, Miles Griffith, Pietro Iodice, Rocco Zifarelli, Luca Pirozzi, Rosario Giuliani, Giovanni Imparato, Marco Siniscalco, Gianni Oddi, Solis String Quartet, Marco Siniscalco, Lello Panico, Gianluca Renzi,… She has recorded in 1998 an album of Italian songs “Vento d’Africa” (AD records), but collaborating with jazz musicians like Pietro Iodice, Rosario Giuliani and Giovanni Amato. This was the first step of her moving to jazz recording. The second album is completely jazz oriented and named “Rite Time” (UM record), produced by one of the most well known italian jazz guitarist, Fabio Mariani. It includes also original material with her lyrics and it features Cinzia in a various settings as lead vocals, lyricist, background vocals, in big band and string orchestra. This Album holds pleasant surprises, song after song. Cinzia takes chances with her voice makes it happen every time: Her voice is beautiful, strong and scatting wonderful lines and arrangements by pianist Pino Iodice. Especially refreshing is that this artist writes a lot of lyrics contained in this album. Several arrangements stand out, mainly “Afro Blue”. It takes you on a ride from haunting vocals and background, to solid afro-cubano rhythms. The ballads are exciting, with Cinzia using her extensive vocal range, as well as singing most of the backgrounds tracks. Cinzia is more involved in “pro-life projects”: in 2004 she has been nominated “Peace Ambassador” of the Assisi International Peace Center (the ONLUS recognized by ONU), due to her deep involvement in musical projects aimed to gather money for people suffering for the War in Africa. She also collaborated with Unicef from 2005 she collaborates with Stefano de Sando, Mara Venier and Barbara D’Urso, to support the ONLUS Ali di Scorta. In 2007 she recorded the “Song for Nassiriya childs”, written with Pino Iodice, for gathering money for child school-education and growing in IRAQ (see I Bambini di Nassiriya ONLUS).
