About Me
"A weird tale is not an account of things and happenings, but a skilful transcript of a certain sort of human mood. Tangible aspects and events can never be more than incidental properties. The real thing is the dark current of half-formulated feelings that sweeps relentlessly along."

NOTE: This is a Quietus Magazine tribute page. Viir does not maintain this MySpace presence. He has graciously granted access to materials and kind permission for the construction of this site. Viir wishes to thank all of the writers, poets, graphics artists and dark aesthetes who submitted material (whether accepted or not) to Quietus Magazine. Without these brave and talented souls, Quietus could not have been the quality publication that it was. --Bill Solis, Quietus Magazine MySpace
Quietus Magazine published Gothic Horror stories written in the manner and tradition of the Masters of Gothic Literature: H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, The Brontës, Baudelaire and so on. Stories, Poetry and Artwork in Quietus are ultra dark, extra-dimensional in scope and otherworldly.
Quietus published stories that exhibit scenes, characters, creatures, dimensions, colors and modes of storytelling never seen before. It's all about the psychological make up of horror—the angles in a room, the dark streets less traveled, witch lights in a rural cemetery, the indescribable shape loping across an open field in the dead of night.
Quietus was a purely imaginative, quality-driven publication. Although the project closed after three (3) issues, Quietus was extremely impactful on the Gothic Horror and hard Science Fiction literary and visual arts communities. All three (3) original issues are available at the Official Quietus Magazine website: http://www.quietusmag.com.
Independently, two of Quietus' contributing Artists volunteered to finance the continuation of the magazine out of pocket--they saw its intrinsic uniqueness and high value. Alas, Viir would regrettably announce Quietus' quietus, as it were, in lieu of his musical career; he was commissioned to compose a motion picture soundtrack while simultaneously managing two bands. This decision was extremely difficult, not to mention heartbreaking, for Viir and it pained him greatly to cease the project. [If you wish to contact Viir directly, please go to the Oxygen Law and/or Biomechanic MySpace presences listed in our top friends].
