Miss Amie

In a scene like this, you get a contact high!

About Me

I surround myself with creative beings... artists, poets, musicians, writers, prophets. I'm independent, yet love every aspect of chivalry. I'm only rude when disrespected, otherwise, I have little tolerance for it. My biggest vice is road rage and a proclivity to curse, even though I always have something more intelligent to say. I share my living space with three babies in fuzzy cat suits and generally prefer animals over people. I'm completely nomadic and crave some degree of anonymity. I sometimes have bouts of wilful agoraphobia. I'm an ordained Goddess and an artist's model. I really did leave my heart in San Francisco. I'm a founding member of The Strawberry Suffragettes. I've got the ways and means to New Orleans (and a dollface girlfriend with a two-bedroom apartment!). I come from a long lineage of Southern belles, so I always try to exhibit a little class. I love red hair on a woman and tattoos on feet. At this juncture of my life, I go out of my way to avoid drama. I'm in awe of the ocean's ability to clear my head. I see dead people.

My Interests

Anything creative and avant garde... writing, music, art, photography... you name it. Even when it comes to the bizarre and macabre, I'm all for it. I have an affinity towards drag queens, nuns and obviously, The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. As for the various artists and photograpers I respect and admire: Kembra Pfahler, Jan Saudek, Nate Stapleton, Bonnie Veronica, Matt Fleming, Steve Diet Goedde, Justice Howard, Joe Coleman, Miss Van, Melissa Braden and Inguna Skuja, Sylvia Ji, Liz McGrath, Steven Arnold, Fetus de Milo, Chad Lenzi and Mark Helfrich. I adore all religious art and collect antique French nun postcards.I love handwritten letters (sent and received), voodoo veves, flocked velvet wallpaper, autographed books, my cat's purr, happy surprises, psychic and tarot readings, turrets, flowery verbiage, genealogy, affectionate nicknames and ex-votos.

I'd like to meet:

Henry Rollins. I'd also love to meet kindred spirits that want to reveal experiences that I can also revel in... sometimes, living vicariously is as lovely as the real thing. I would love to make contacts in all of the places I'm going to be travelling, in the U.S. and abroad. My goal is to network a web of like-minded individuals that would be interested in sharing music and experiences and can advise on things to seek out and to avoid. I avidly plan and research ideas, have a couple of books in the works, along with some kitschy art/photography projects. In essence, I'm looking to inspire and to be inspired.

Music:

Music: The Cult, The Nuns, The Bellrays, The Goddess Storm Large and the various bands that she has been involved in, Beyond Veronica, Blondie, The Brides, Camp Freddy, Deadboy and the Elephantmen, Detroit Cobras, Dresden Dolls, The Ettes, Faith No More, Eagles of Death Metal, Genitorturers, The Gits, Guns 'N Roses, Jane's Addiction, Kings of Leon, Ingrid Lucia, The Mooney Suzuki, Peter Murphy, Nancyboy, Queen, Queens of the Stone Age, The Raconteurs, The Ramones, Rasputina, The Stooges, Type O Negative, The Velvet Underground, The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black, Warrior Soul, Jason Webley, White Stripes, White Zombie. I'm also a big fan of compliations and soundtracks, especially those from Sympathy for the Record Industry. I love women in music and am partial to girl bands in general. Right now, I'm listening to a lot of 60's french music, Shuggie Otis and Underground Garage on Sirius (I'm totally addicted). Oh, and I have many reasons to love Elvis, so I do.

Movies:

Movies: True Romance, Ma Vie En Rose, Moulin Rouge, Amelie, Jackie Brown (actually, ALL of the Tarantino movies), Frida, O Brother, Where Art Thou, The Shining, The Red Violin, Signs, Hairspray, Pecker, Cry Baby, Heathers, Valley Girl, Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill!, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, Three on a Match, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, Bell, Book and Candle, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Virgin Suicides, Xanadu, The Hunger, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte, A Dirty Shame, V For Vendetta, Psycho Beach Party, Torchsong Trilogy, Night of the Comet, Election, Jawbreaker. (The best parody stage show EVER!)

Television:

I watch My Name Is Earl religiously, but also love Law and Order, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Henry Rollins on IFC, Carnivale (gone but not forgotten), Six Feet Under (ditto) and am almost ashamed to admit that I've seen nearly every episode of Sex in the City. I loved Charlotte. She was so prissy.

Books:

I'm a total bibliophile and adore so many books, I couldn't even begin to list them all... however, the small press deserves some kudos and big, behemoth ones go out to Jon Longhi, Clint Catalyst, Danielle Willis, Michelle Tea, Jennifer Blowdryer, Debrah LaRue, Beth Lisick, Jennifer Joseph, Pleasant Gehman, Nicole Panter, Ayn Imperato, Iris Berry, and Bucky Sinister. I also relate so much to Poppie Z. Brite in every realm, I've convinced myself that we were separated at birth.

Heroes:

Amelie Poulain; Henry Rollins, for having a voice that mirrors my own and is spread over a much wider range; my mother, who did the best that she could in a merciless world.
