LEGENDS! - a comedy by Tony Award®-winning James Kirkwood (author of A Chorus Line) - centers on two somewhat desperate and waning movie stars: BJ Cleveland plays Sylvia Glenn, an acerbic film star, reputedly modeled on Joan Crawford; Coy Covington is the seemingly sweet Leatrice Monsee. Both actresses are courted by an unscrupulous producer to co-star in his Broadway show despite the fact that they have hated each other for decades. He convinces both ladies to go along by misleading each of them into believing that she will be starring in the show.ticket info and more at www.uptownplayers.orgWe all become something different in high school. We discover who we are, what we're capable of and build friendships that last, even at great distances and even greater spaces of time when we don't see or keep in touch with one another. The above photo was taken my freshman or sophomore year at O.D. Wyatt High School. I'd discovered not only a love for theatre but what a close nit family theatre people are...no matter what age. Under the guidance of Rudy Eastman, founder of Jubilee Theatre, I worked along side actors and actresses that took my breath away in performances of Oedipus (then banned from public schools but we and Rudy fought for the opportunity to perform it), A Company of Wayward Saints (still one of my favorite pieces of theatre) and later I took the lead in Caesar and Cleopatra and Diary of Adam and Eve..just to mention a few of the many shows we produced in a four year period. But this group was my first "Theatre" family. If your in theatre you know what I mean. To each of them I owe a debt of gratitude and love.

Rudy Eastman, my high school Drama teacher and mentor. He taught me about the art of good theatre and the importance of being true to yourself and your beliefs. He founded one of the true groundbreaking theatre companies in Texas...Jubilee Theatre in Fort Worth, Texas.
My favorite pic of Tony who taught me more about myself than anyone I know.
Bill Garber taught me more about theatre than anyone I know...he was a ground breaking director, the father of theatre in Fort Worth, a mentor, a teacher, an advisor but more importantly a friend.
And lastly...four men whose lives and talents were cut short but made a lasting impression.
