About Me

I host a weekly radio show, Adventures in Sound, on 91.7 FM KOOP (.. at http://www.koop.org). It's on Saturdays from 1 to 2 p.m. (CST). It's a free form show, and some of the artists featured are listed under my musical favorites.When I'm not at the radio station or working, I tend to loaf around the house and listen to music (two of my favorite things!) My main loves in life are: wine, women, and song (and movies and books!)

My Interests

Looking for records, old movies (anything from the 20s through the 60s), Beat poetry, 19th century poetry, making spaghetti for my gal and for friends,deejaying, collecting postcards, doing research on character actors, sending out emails, looking at pretty girls, listening to music, etc.

I'd like to meet:

Dr. Demento, Stan Freberg, Tom Lehrer, Weird Al Yankovic, Matt Groening, V. Vale, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and other groovy icons. Plus like minded folks who dig groovy sounds and films (mostly from the 20s through the 60s).

Television:

The Simpsons and King of the Hill, my all time favs! Also love 60s variety shows, Rocky and Bullwinkle, and ommercials from the 50s/60s!

Books:

Favorite Writer: Charles Bukowski (fellow heavy drinker, scumbag, and lover of the ladies!)Favorite poet: Walt WhitmanAlso dig: Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, and most of the beat heroes; Emily Dickinson, The Brownings, Henry Miller, Anais Nin, T.S.Elliott, books on old movies and music (esp reference books), books with lots of vintage nude photos and pinups, and anything on Bettie Page!

Heroes:

Dr. Demento (listening to his radio show when I was a teen broadened my musical tastes considerably)V. Vale (for his amazing variety of books that he publishes with his company, Research. The Incredibly Strange Music Books also helped pave the way for my restless search for odd sounds from the past).Miles Kreuger (thee foremost theatre historian in the U.S. Nice guy, and has an amazing collection of records, photos, films, etc).Bettie Page, Blaze Starr, and all the pinups/burlesque dancers from the 50s/60s (I can't thank ya'll enough!)
