About Me

Airing every Saturday night from 8-10 CST/CDT on KOOP (pronounced "koh-op") Radio, 91.7 FM Austin /www.koop.org, Stronger Than Dirt is a showcase for (mostly) underground and alternative "rock" and rock and roll from the mid-60s up to the present day.
Stronger Than Dirt has been on the air since December 1994, when KOOP Radio (a community radio statio run by volunteers) first hit the airwaves. Originally it was called the Garage Show and focused mainly on garage/punk music from the 60s through the 90s. Two years later the name of the show was changed to Stronger Than Dirt though the focus remained by and large garage and punk. Over the years the show has evolved to embrace a wider spectrum of "rock," including psychedelic, glam, power pop, new wave, post punk, etc.
