Biography '08:
Josephin has had the “stage bug†from a young age and the talent for writing catchy songs with heartfelt lyrics ever since she put pen to paper but it wasn’t until she discovered 70’s-80’s punk acts such as Cock Sparrer, Stiff Little Fingers, and The Adicts that she solidified her song writing style; passionate anthems with empowering lyrics.
In her upcoming solo album (title TBA) Josephin has combined lessons from her troubled homeland, Israel, and her love of 70s/80s punk bands with her other passion: Soul. She is obviously a student well versed in the styles of her heroes Aretha Franklin, Nina Simon, Anita Baker and Janis Joplin.
Born and raised in Israel, Josephin was taught to read notation early on by her mother, a classical flutist and music teacher for 12 years, which helped train her sensitive ear. Josephin is a true performer starting from early childhood. She has played in front of crowds of hundreds, in theaters, on outdoor stages and in schools. Her experience ranges from soloing in choirs, taking the stage with her past bands, starring in dance recitals to singing leads in various ensembles throughout the years.
With Josephin’s most recent solo effort she combines the danceable fury of roots punk anthems and the soulful power of her big voice. It is something new, it is something exciting and it breaks free from any formula heard before.
Experience:
Josephin was credited for singing backing vocals on Dropkick Murphy's "Warriors Code" album in '06. She has also been credited for recording and appearing in the music video of Boston’s based all-star Motown band Soul City.
