The Glitter Kittens burlesque

Zelda Saint-Wilde's The Glitter Kittens rock burlesque show!!!

About Me

The Glitter Kittens are a modern day female rock burlesque act containing a host of attractive and professional young ladies. The show is a glamorous event with an array of numbers ranging from 1940s inspired cabaret to modern style rock routines, all different and entertaining in there own rite with a tongue in cheek raunchiness that makes the show fun and unique.Music ranges from favourites of days gone by such as ‘Big Spender’ and ‘ Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy’ to songs by Queens of The Stoneage, Muse, Prince and Marilyn Manson to name a few. There is something for everyone whether were performing a full set or just two numbers fun will be had!All girls are highly trained and experienced performers with a range of backgrounds from ballet and contemporary to breakdancing and gymnastics. The show is about fun and entertainment with the emphasis on tease, there is no full nudity despite misconceptions with the word burlesque, it is more about having fun and being comfortable in your own skin. The Glitter Kittens are led by creator Zelda Saint-Wilde who takes on the role of artistic director, choreographer and lead performer. The Glitter Kittens style blends the two very different worlds of cabaret and rock to give them a distinctive edge in burlesque’s world of glamour and decadence.Zelda started out as a solo performer, doing burlesque as well as other forms of dance. Her experience singing with a band gained her great experience and knowledge of the business and with many stage acting roles and a film under her belt she is no stranger to performing. She officially round the sexiest and most talented girls she could find in 2004, a year of rehearsing the show ensued and The Glitter Kittens made their debut in the summer of 2005. After a whirlwind of shows and touring in 2006/7 things are definitely on the up and up and Zelda is looking forward to adding her new kittens to the 2008 line up, adding a host of new numbers to the show and to squeeze in enough time to tour the globe!!EXPERIENCE; THE STORY SO FAR…Just in these past 3 years they have performed in a number of well known burlesque clubs alongside some of the most talented and respected burlesque performers such as The Tassel club Dublin for their 2005 Christmas show with Miss Lily White and Dusty Limits, Il Bordello as a support for the wonderful Miss Indigo Blue from Seattle, Diamond Rendezvous in Birmingham, Hollywood Showbar in Manchester with drag act Kitty Lashes and Peekaboo in Sheffield with Fancy Chance and Red Sarah where they were offered a residency to perform every month. They performed at the London Burlesque festival in summer 2007 and were invited back to perform for the fundraising event in October aswell as this years festival. As well as the burlesque scene their rock edge has made them popular on the rock club/band scene where they have performed at some very well known rock venues around the UK and Ireland. Returning to local favourites such as Monster-Monster Manchester, The Castle Oldham for their NME nights and Ska Burlesque London. The Glitter Kittens also supported metal band I-Def-I in 2006 at Manchester’s Roadhouse for their Bloodlust Casualty album launch and have supported other bands such as, Newbreed, Orphan Boy and The Dangerfields as well as being the official dancers for Kid Ego, having performed with them through out the summer at gigs and festivals. They also embarked on a UK tour with the band last September to much success. 2007 has seen the girls support Reverend and the Makers, dance for all girl rock band The Smears at the Nottingham Summer Party festival, perform with Gilby Clarke from Guns n Roses in LA, and a 42 date tour of UK theatres where Zelda performed in the Steve Steinman stage show Vampires Rock alongside Eddie Ojeda of Twisted Sister. One of the many highlights for the girls during 2006 and again twice in 2007/08 had to be there trips to Los Angeles where they perform at venues such as The Cat Club, Lava Lounge, Mr. Ts Bowl, The Viper Room and as dancers for Cruefest at The Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood, there was also a collaboration with Madame Sunset and her burlesque show on the Sunset Strip. They are set to perform in LA again this summer after being invited back by numerous venues . The Glitter Kittens can also be seen in the Teenage Casket Company’s music video for ‘ Don’t look at me like that’ and US band The Kreeps ‘Cyanide’ video.

All my favourite films tend to have a Tim Burton or Quentin Tarrantino connection though, my faves being True Romance, Pulp Fiction, Edward Scissorhands and A Nightmare Before Christmas- not hugely original but hey! I also have a weakness for vampire films although most are really cheesy, I love The Lost Boys and dusk til dawn.

Television:

Never really have time for tv so not hooked on anything, I hate all the cheesy soaps and my worst nightmare would be to be forced to watch them all continuously Clockwork Orange style!
