About Me

Who are you? What do you want? Why are you here?
Where are you going? Where have you been?
Who do you serve, and who do you trust?
Who owns you? Who runs your life? Who should - you or someone else?
Hi! My name is Mike, as it says on the upper left. Thanks for taking the time to stop by and check out my profile.
The basics - I am friendly, shy at first but outgoing once I know you, good listener, sincere and honest, with a wicked sense of humor, and a very experimental nature. I love being spontaneous with the ones who can handle it.
SOME SPECIFICS
My extracurricular affiliations
Recent reading, viewing, listening, etc.
Philosophy of life -- I'm a live-and-let-live guy. If you're not hurting anyone else with what you do, you've got every right in the world to do it. As a corollary to this, that means that everyone else has the right to do whatever they want as long as they're not hurting anyone else.
Politics -- My politics tend to flow from my personal life and experiences (long story there!) -- I'm an anarchist -leaning libertarian extropian panarchist .
Attitudes --I'm protective, not possessive (well, maybe a little), towards my partners and friends. I try to be open-minded. I like it when things make sense, and try to understand what I'm missing when they don't. I prefer to deliver more than I promise. Where friends are concerned, I prefer quality over quantity: someone who I can trust implicitly as opposed to shallow chumminess.
Some of my other online profiles:
Boston Tea Party - As a backup to the Libertarian Party.
Free Republic - What can I say? I like to take the Bushevik crap and feed it back to 'em .
Xanga -- I first found out about Xanga on Wikipedia, and after a look, it seems worth checking out -- it looks like it could serve as a useful complement to Myspace and Yahoo.
Witchvox - "Officially" I'm an agnostic, but if I had to pick one religion over all others, it would most likely be Wicca - it seems to be the most self-consistent. That, and I'm not big on ritual and ceremony - I spent enough time standing around in formations while in the Army Reserve and National Guard. Nor am I big on deities. (But I do have some paperwork from the Universal Life Church ordaining me as a minister . . .)
Yahoo - Who DOESN'T have a Yahoo profile these days?! I have a Yahoo list that serves as my email blog - most of what I write as email will be BCC'ed to there - Mike's Place - stop on by and check it out.
The Links and Messages sections there will be publicly accessible - the rest of it (Files and Photos) Yahoo won't let me make that way.

Brought to you by:
OkCupid - Free Online Dating!

For friends-only stuff - people interested in what I'm interested in - shooting, camping, science fiction, libertarian politics

For dating, romance, intimacy - someone who's at least OK with the above, if you're not like that yourself -

What brings a nice girl like you to an n-dimensional space like this?
"The great secret of life lies in choosing the right woman. It's a mother's job to tell you not to play with fire. Marry the girl who tells you, 'Go ahead.'"
- L. Neil Smith, "Tactical Reflections"

I'm a 34-year old single guy, and I'm posting this here looking for a lady that I can share time with. I would first like to take a moment to thank you for reading my profile. Once you get to know me, you'll find I'm an outgoing guy, who enjoys socializing with friends. I take pride in my appearance, but I don't fuss about it. I am quick to laugh, enjoy taking a joke, and even make a few at my own expense. I believe that sensitivity is key to a relationship, keeping both people connected builds the romance.

Stand beside me between the darkness and the light.
Traverse the Route of Ages with me, and together we'll stare into the abyss, to find it staring back at us.
Here's the "Ideal Person" part of my passion.com profile:

I'm not looking for a goddess or someone perfect. Just someone to have some fun with. I have a very friendly personality and would prefer the same. Someone comfortable with themselves and seeking another for fun and friendship, maybe more. A brain is a must - idiots get boring after about a minute - what's your favorite book?

Specifically, I'm seeking (and offer in return)

Honesty above all else
Intelligence
Reciprocity - what you give, you get back
Versatility - the ability to do many things well.
Loyalty - cover my back, I'll cover yours
Respect, of a sorts (after I've earned it) - an irreverent kind of respect
Open lines of communication
Punctuality - "Let's meet at 7:00" doesn't mean "I'll show up at midnight"
Willingness to offer, listen to and discuss new ideas
Compassion
Kindness
A shoulder to cry on (not as often as I'll offer one to you...)
A training / debate / playtime partner
Someone to have fun with

Smoking - I'm a non-smoker, as opposed to an anti-smoker. Meaning that, while I'm not a smoker, I don't mind if you are.

Drinking - I don't mind a drink or two, but I tend to be especially careful to not overdo it when I have to drive later.

Drugs - I don't mind someone who smokes pot on occasion (I tried it myself - it didn't do anything for me), but the harder stuff is a BIG no-no for me.

Turn-ONs for me

Good conversation, kisses, hugs, cuddling on the sofa watching TV or movies, smelling your perfume, you running your nails up and down my back (I LOVE that!), you grabbing my head or butt while we're kissing and hugging, and later, giving oral for you.

Turn-OFFs for me

Dishonesty or games from a woman about where I stand with her, being stood up on dates, stupidity, hard drug usage.

More about me - see for yourself - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mikes_place/files/Details about me/

While you're at it, feel free to take a look at my my Passion.com blog .
