THANKS TO MARIO SALAZAR...WWW.CHICAGOSROCK.COM....BIO....Originally forming in 2003 as a death metal band under a different name, Bavmorda then consisted of Phil DiCicco (drums) and Michael Hraha (lead guitars). After writing a handful of songs and playing a string of shows, they were faced with a vacancy in the vocalist's spot. Convinced by their bassist to go into a much more melodic vocal direction, they recruited Albert Rybka in February of 2005. Albert was allowed to write his own lyrics and vocal melodies for the existing songs, giving them more of a power/progressive metal vibe.Under the name of Vulture, this new lineup played together for about a year. By that year's end, they were without a bassist. Dissatisfied with their name, the remaining members chose Bavmorda, that being the antagonist of the classic Ron Howard fantasy film.After five months of waiting, the band was finally starting to find the right members to complete their lineup. In May of 2006, the first addition to arrive was rhythm guitarist Jonathan Kwiatek. Jonathan was followed by Jose Salazar on bass in September of 2006. These newest recruits have also added their touches to the exisiting songs in addition to helping them lineup numerous shows and spreading the word via the internet.Bavmorda is poised to take the world by storm as its newest heavy metal rising star. With a sound rooted in power and progressive metal and including moments that bring more extreme metal to mind, they are currently playing in the Chicagoland area while starting pre-production for their full-length debut.
