GO FIGURE!!

About Me

Go Figure is based in Salt Lake City, Utah. They play original pop-rock with a folk-music heart, plenty of sing-along hooks, and a danceable groove.
The band traces its roots to the early 90s when singer-guitarist Roger Fowlks and bass player Shawn Jacobs played in jangle-pop band Happenstance. Soon after Shawn left Utah in 1993, Roger met drummer Jay Christensen at a record store. The two bonded over their love of music and began jamming in Rogers basement. Roger recruited a friend for bass duties, and the band began playing on the Salt Lake scene.
The mid90s saw Go Figure play hundreds of shows as a headlining act, as well as opening for national touring acts such as the Apples in Stereo and the Young Dubliners. In 1996, they recorded their first album, Where Now? (available at www.figurerecords.com).
Life interrupted in 1998, and Go Figure disbanded while the members got married and started their families. Music was still a part of their lives, however. Roger began working on the industrial Vinegar Works project, releasing the Father Figure album in 2001, and Jay joined Zambu Fly, who released their self-titled album in 2000. While he was living in Denver, Shawn played with progressive metal band L.S. Diesel, who released an EP titled A Box of Heavy Thoughts in 1999.
After a chance meeting between Roger and Jay (again at a record store), they decided to reform the band. In the meantime, Shawn had returned to Utah with a family of his own. Roger called him, and the second lineup of Go Figure began rehearsing, bringing back their older songs as well as composing new material. They played their first shows in the Fall of 2003. In the summer of 2006, the bands lineup was completed and its sound fleshed out with the addition of guitarist Angela Mize.
