You are listening to the debut album of an artist whose songs have been recorded on some of the most highly lauded and multi-million selling artist's albums in the world. Many years before penning songs that would see her nominated for a Grammy for her collaboration on the follow up title track 'Rockinhorse' and for Alannah Myles' eponymous record that featured the multi platinum, Grammy award winning classic hit 'Black Velvet', for which she wrote the last acoustic track 'Hurry Make Love', Nancy's songs were recorded by Melissa Manchester, Colleen Peterson, Shirley Eikhard and several other recording artists from both country and pop genres in the 1970's and 80's as a Warner/Chappell published writer.
One of Nancy's first engagements as a young woman was performing with Leonard Cohen whose producer spotted her potential star, producing an entire record of her songs with the London Philharmonic Orchestra that was never released. It was far ahead of it's time and Nancy has always remained close to earthy folk and country blues roots as an artist.
In the 1990's Nancy dedicated her songwriting skills toward influencing other artists from Canada and the United States and after several thwarted attempts at creating her own recording career she remained a strong influence for others including producing, with the aid of David Bradstreet, a posthumous album for her dear collaborator and friend, country singer / songwriter Colleen Peterson.
With help from David, Ms Simmonds has finally produced her 'Debut' CD.
