About Paul Justin
Paul Justin was born in Hawthorne, Nevada, a small desert town near the California border. He first plucked a guitar string when he was four years old and living in Sterling, Colorado on a farm that his family rented for helping feed the cows. His parents and local radio introduced him to country, folk, and rock & roll. Paul's first influences were The Steve Miller Band, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Gordon Lightfoot. In 1978 his family settled back in Hawthorne, where Paul started playing bass. At 14 he was playing with his two brothers and a cousin in a rock band, and took second place in a local talent show. Paul continued playing in bands until 1996 when he gave up music for love.Love doesn't always end up the way youd like it to, so Paul turned back to his passion for music and in 2002 wrote his first country song, "Aurora", a fictional story in the 1860's of revenge in a rowdy Nevada mining town and . . . the stage was set. He spent the next 3 years writing, playing guitar, and singing for all his friends back in Nevada. Sometimes just around the campfire on camping and hunting trips. He got back in touch with his small town friends and roots. Music had always been Paul's way of expression and doing it with country music is where he knew home was.
At the beginning of 2005, Paul decided it was time to get things moving and start playing music at local bars and Honky Tonks. In June 2005, he debuted at Cooks Corner in Trabuco Canyon and started a journey that has landed him with some of the coolest musicians and friends in Southern California. Since then, Paul Justin & The Saloonatixx have worked their way into just about every local dance hall and bar, played a few rodeos and a fair or two. They have a style and personality that lets you know you've come to the right place for a good time!Paul recently said:My favorite thing to do is get up on stage. Theres something about the energy you get from people, even if its only two or three of them. If we can make people enjoy their night out, were doing everything right. We love what were doing and it shows every time we play.
