ALEXANDER BONILLA -- + FYAH SOUND SYSTEM
He was born in Cartagena De Indias, Colombia on March 4th of 1973. Most of the people who know him say he has been a truly supporter and hardcore committed reggae fan. He actually shares its time by working independently and promoting Reggae music as well. We really have to say that because of his brillant interest for reggae music, which began early as a teenager. It has allowed him to became a serious former collector, archivist, historian, lecturer, promoter, DJ (Radio & Club), Broadcaster and also Webmaster. Between 1995 and 1998 he ran the first and only reggae club in town.
In December 1999 he joined the prominent international reggae network organization known as Reggae Ambassadors Worldwide (R.A.W.) He was the first and still proudly being the only colombian active member of that amazing organization. In january 2000, he finally move into higher levels by starting two new projects: playing reggae music on FM Radio at his weekly Grass-Roots Show and also launching the non-profits website: www.reggaecolombia.com – a very interesting and largest work. The first established official reggae site from Colombia. A comprehensive network founded with serious compromise and deep love for reggae music, Jamaican culture and everything related. Of course, it focuses also the interesting national scene, considering the importance of this genre, he is always working trying to move and keep reggae music to the top. In this matter, he has been the host and co-host, producer & selector of diverses radio shows, being also a reputable local reggae promoter, CEO for ReggaeColombia.com site and manager for local, national and international bands as well.
During the last years, he has been extensively traveling the world specially places like Jamaica and Europe attending the largest and greatest Reggae Shows on Earth like Reggae Sumfest , Reggae Sunsplash , Rototom Sunsplash , Africa Unite , Smile Jamaica, Rebel Salute , Cure Fest, All Spice, Bob Marley Celebrations, and many others. Actually he periodically reviews all these events on his website.
Apart of being in active role on Radio Airwaves, he recently founded his own Sound System called + Fyah Sound System playing Reggae and Dancehall music all over the country, promoting his own shows and receiving multiples invitations to play everywhere.
