Makonnen - MultiCast Entertainment

MultiCast Entertainment was started in 2001 by Makonnen Blake Hannah, as an incubator and production house for upcoming young Jamaican artists. The company creates computer-based musical beats blending hip hop and dance hall rhythms, developing in the process unique musical concepts and ideas.
Each of MultiCast Entertainment’s multi-talented young artists brings an individual style of song concept and performance to the mix; they then work together to inspire each other and to cross-fertilize their musical output through the incorporation of all forms of audio-visual technology.
The musical youths say they are motivated by their dedication to improving and uplifting the standard of Jamaican reggae music. Fusing contemporary dance hall beats with US-influenced hip hop rhythms, positive lyrics and knowledge of what appeals to youth their age, MultiCast Entertainment brings a fresh flava to the musical scene.
New dancehall star Idonai’s videos “March Out”, and “All and Everything” were co-produced by MultiCast Entertainment, while “March Out” also featured Makonnen’s original rhythm. New artist Raw Raw who has been working with Makonnen for the past 4 years, has just returned from his first European tour of Switzerland, Italy and France, and is receiving video time with his songs “Garrison” (produced by Guerilla Music) and “Link Me No Gal”, a MultiCast co-production with Jamaican producer “Blaxx”. Roots&Culture artist "Jabalance" has two new releases: "My Music" and "Summertime" now in Jamaican rotation, while Dance Hall DJ/Poet Rsenal has developed a Japanese fan base.
In 2004 MultiCast released its first independent production - an album of new Jamaican dub poetry backed by Makonnen’s rhythms, featuring rising stars Marsha Hall, Steppa, Takura, Neto Meeks & Ginsu. As part of its national promotion of the poets, MultiCast arranged exposure on Reggae Sumfest 2003, Heinekin Startime, Rebel Salute and other music events, as well as the broadcast and print media.
A Founding Board member of the Recording Industry Association of Jamaica (RIAJam) and a member of ASCAP, Makonnen has participated in several music industry seminars and expos and spoken twice at the United Nations in New York on the development of digital communication technology for Caribbean youth, and secondly on the use of technology in music production in Jamaica. In 2004 Multicast was one of 40 companies run by youths in Latin America and the Caribbean invited to participate in a Young Entrepreneurs Expo hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) in Peru and won an IDB Youth Entrepreneurship award.
The latest MultiCast release is Multicast - The Next Generation, a compilation album featuring a selection of artists produced and recorded by the company. With hard work and ambition, MultiCast Entertainment hopes to make a positive impact on the Jamaican and international music scenes.
