The world at Temple Hall By Chieftin Campbell Observer TEENage writer UWI Tuesday, August 15, 2006"World Series" Renaissance Disco's 17th Birthday Party was definitely a party of international standards. Renaissance through the assistance of landscape designers provided an exquisitely decorated venue for party-goers who indulged in exotic drinks Häagen-Dazs ice cream and international cuisine at cheap prices. The international flavour was brought on by the flags from the different countries where Renaissance Disco has played in their 17 years of existence. Some lined either side of the venue, while others were hung overhead. One patron on seeing the décor for the first time exclaimed, "pon di skin a mi teeth mi did affi deh yah". It was amazing and on decoration alone Delano and the crew truly outdid themselves.Gates were set to open at 10 but the party didn't begin until approximately 12:45 am. Still that was only because the Temple Hall Estate venue-located in Stony Hill- was seemingly too far for many patrons. Nonetheless, the crowd grew, filling to capacity at about 1:15 am and Renaissance was ready to take it up a notch. With music of all genres, for people from all walks of life, Renaissance Disco visited the four corners of the earth. They had the total attention of the crowd. But at 2:55 pm the power from the sound went. Oddly, this seemed to go over well with most patrons. Some were still enjoying themselves, while others even danced without the sound of music. The power made its way back to the sound systems at about 3:00 am and a massive roar from the crowd heralded its arrival. Then it was as if the power never went! The Renaissance dubplates and mixes that the crew unleashed were incredible making it almost impossible to not enjoy the party. If the electrifying17th birthday party is anything to go by, there's no telling what the 20th will be like. With over six hours of music, drinks and gyrating non-stop, Renaissance Disco's World Series was definitely a celebration of international proportions.
