JOIYA was formed in December 2001 by guitarist Nolan Simon and violinist/pianist Cassandra Verras. In March 2002, drummer Michael Hardin was added, and after many, MANY member additions, deletions and changes the quartet came into its final lineup with the addition of cellist Kaylan Mitchell in December 2003. JOIYA released their first full length, titled Sometimes Is And Kinda, in August 2004.
Currently, the members of JOIYA are spread across state lines and working with new bands and projects, most notably The Silent Years and Canada . There is hope, however, that they will finish and release their second record sometime in 2008.
