Nathan Montgomery

Hey There! My name is Nathan, a solo artist (acoustic guitarist) from Royal oak, MI. Recently I have independently released 2 solo CDs and perform regularly around Michigan while trying to expand nationally. Influenced by an array of musicians, my music is a fusion of many styles including blues, funk, jazz,rock, and fingerstyle in effort to create unique music. My goal is to play bass lines, melody, solos and percussion (on the body of the guitar) simultaneously without the use of loops/overdubs.

I started playing guitar with the inspiration and guidance from my Dad at the age of 9. Since then I have been in numerous school band programs ranging from elementary to high school. I attended Wayne State University, graduating in 2002, with a bachelors in Jazz Performance.

This is my 5 th year as a guitar/bass instructor at a charter high school in Fraser, MI, Arts Academy in the Woods. For more information about AAW visit http://www.artsacademy-woods.org

I also teach private guitar/bass lessons at Gus Zoppi Music Center in Sterling Hts., MI. My students have achieved many awards including the National Championship of the American Guild of Music competition 3 times and runner up twice with many other 1st place awards in various categories. Many have gone on to study at the college level, some with full scholarships. Some have gone on to become teachers themselves. Many have gone on to make a successful career out of music performance.
