The name be Gambit monami, I be a mutant who possesses the normal human strength of a man of my age, height, and build who engages in intensive regular exercise. I have the mutant ability to tap into the potential energy contained within an object and transform it into kinetic energy. When Gambit be chargin' an object with kinetic energy and throws it at a target, need-less-to say the target go boom! Now for a little about Gambit 101, Ole'Gambit never had it like he does now at the X-Mansion, I used to be a homeless boy wandering the streets... Eventually a man by the name of Jean-Luc LeBeau took me in, head of the council of the Thieves Guild, a criminal organization based in New Orleans. To keep peace between us and a rival Guild more specifically, The Assasins Guild. Me and Miss Bella Donna Boudreaux, the granddaughter of the head of the Assassins were to be wed. However, Bella Donna's uptight brother Julien objected to the marriage and challenged me to a duel. Tisk-Tisk-Tisk poor Ole' Julien dun know who he was up against, I ended up wounding Julien, I was then was forced to flee New Orleans to prevent war between the two guilds. I wandered the world as I used my skills as a master thief in order to survive. I employed playing cards as my trademark weapon, I always liked to keep 52 explosive tucked away in one little pocket. At one point I agreed to assemble the team of assassins known as the Marauders for Mister Sinister. How was I suppoed to know that Ole'red eyes Sinister would employ the Marauders to massacre the underground mutant community called the Morlocks? Eventually, I encountered the X-Women Storm, who had been transformed into an amnesiac child and who had turned to theft. I be nice and helped her escape, the Shadow King, and they became partners. Later, when Professor Charles Xavier returned from a long period of traveling in outer space, Storm, having regained her memory and true age, sponsored my admission into the X-Men. I have remained on the team ever since and fell in love with my fellow X-Man Rogue and my Queen of Hearts. Recently, however, Rogue and I have grown apart. As for Bella Donna, she has become my enemy. Recently, the X-Men learned of my role in the massacre of the Morlocks. Guilt-ridden, I be leavin' the team, at least for now. In the alternate future in which the X-Man Bishop was born, I have become an aged figure who witnessed the betrayal of the X-Men by one of their own members. Bishop suspected I was the traitor until he learned how Xavier's mind spawned the malevolent entity Onslaught.
