About Me

I was born in Sarzana, La Spezia (Italy) the 28th of April 1971. I started playing keyboards and studying music when I was 7, then as teenager I used to play with different bands also starting to experiment with my own compositions and with electronic instruments. Soon I started my friendship and collaboration with Dj/Producer Alex Neri and we started to write and produce our music. During the nineties we released different records including Korda "Move your body" and Kamasutra that was a bit more experimental combining different musical flavours, from funk through hip hop, new wave, elettronic to house. Alex Neri "Plunet Funk Vol.1" (1994) is another rapresentative of our musical vision at that time. The productions cross each other with remixes for artists like Club Freaks, Annette Taylor, Future Forces, Instant Funk and Jestofunk. Kamasutra soon became an acclaimed reality starting from the first "Runnin' Away" double vinyl in 1993. "Night Walk", "Censored", "Love Me or Leave me" featuring Kim Mazelle, and "Burning" featuring Corinna Joseph were the next steps of Kamasutra project. The track "Storm in My Soul", for major Sony UK, goes directly to n°1 in the Italian, German and Uk club charts, placing us in the eye of the world dance scene. In december ’98 we realeased the track “Happiness” featuring Jocelyn Brown, which gains n° 1 in the dj’s club chart and n°2 in Record Mirror Club Chart. “Happiness” was also long played by Radio One and selected by Dave Pearce as Drivetime record of the week. It reached n°4 in the Tokyo –top 100 and was choosed by Larry Flick (Billboard) as “One of the best spring’s hit”. Meanwhile we realised “Planet Funk vol. 2”, very acclaimed in the clubs. The last record as Kamasutra is "Where Is the Love", licensed by Warner, greatly appreciated by Capital Radio, Galaxy, Kiss and Atlantic (UK). In the end of the millenium we have worked as writer/Producer with Italian Artist "Alan Sorrenti" creating the songs "Kyoko Mon Amour", "Paradiso Beach" and "Sottacqua", and I played live with Alan in 2000 for an italian tour.In ‘99 came the friendship with Gigi Canu and Sergio Della Monica, from which born Planet Funk. The band started with “Chase The Sun”, one the top 20 European hits of 2001 (n° 5 in UK). Then went on with “Inside All The People”, an eclectic track with the unique voice of Dan Black, leading vocal also for “The Switch” and “Who Said”. Many musicians and vocalists partecipate to our first cd , “Non Zero Sumness ”including Auli Cocco, Raiz from Almamegretta and Simple Mind singer Jim Kerr on "One Step Closer". The first live set of Planet Funk was in Ibiza for MTV in August 2001, followed by the concerts of 2002, such as the Heineken Jammin’ Festival (June ’02), Neapolis Festival (July ’02) and the Tim Tour (July/August ’02). During summer 2002, Planet Funk have also partecipated to all Festivalbar’s Show and have been invited to several TV shows, in the main Italian Tv channels. A nomination was received for MTV European Music Awards, cathegory Best Italian Act, (Barcelona the 14th of November, www.mtv.it/ema) and three awards received at IMA (Italian Music Awards, www.italianmusicawards.it), the 2nd of December, in the cathegories “Best Group”, “Best Dance Act”, “Best New Act”. "Non Zero Sumness" album became a Golden record with more than 50.000 copies sold. 2003 started with the U.K. promotion of the album, with a live concert for BBC 1 in London the first of April. Meanwhile, we began our Italian Tour, with exiciting live concerts in the best Italian venues and in the amazingly crowded Rome gig (maybe 400.000 people...) for the First of May festival. The summer tour ended the 2nd of August in Lecce for MTV night. More live concerts followed, ending with one big live party the 31st of December 2003. Planet Funk’s Australian tour (April 2004) has been a great success, with 5 astonishing live concerts in the main venues of the country followed by an acclaimed concert in Istanbul (June 2004). From the second album "The Illogical Consequence" is the single "Stop Me" presented with the officially awarded videoclip shooted in China and realized by Direct 2 Brain, as well as the second single "Everyday". The last 2006 Planet Funk album is "Static" with the collaboration of singer Luke Allen and Hugh Harris as co-writer containing, among the others the title track and the first single "It's Your Time".
