About Me

There are reasons for the land
A bird held captive in her hand
Whose only wish is a demand
And they kept dancing hand in hand
A sailor’s daughter and a man
Like windblown particles of sand
Their every move so lightly planned ---------------------------Alden Roach remains wilfully naïve in the hope of a future of peace and truth catalyzed by technology and poetry. And, he hopes that the sublime outranks the absurd. I've uploaded my songs to this page to share some of my words and sounds as they come to me. I am a poet and a musician who has played in traditional bands, experimental collaborative projects and am now enjoying solo studio work. I sincerely hope you enjoy what you hear and see. I am using this page to express my somewhat oblique and rough-hewn thoughts about this world we all live in. I appreciate all feedback, so please drop me a comment or a message and let me know how you're doing, or even how I'm doing.I enjoy artistic collaboration as well - so if you feel that we may be kindred musical spirits, please let me know. This page is forever becoming and always again. Poetry and music are where truth begins.

Sounds Like: For the most part, I sound like Alden Roach, but I think there are probably hints of T. Rex, Eno, Bowie, Peter Murphy, the Jazz Butcher, Kurt Weill, and Leonard Cohen in my music - and if I'm lucky enough, the true greats like Christy Moore, Dave Carter and Johnny Spillane might surface someday in my words and song. Some have said I sound little like the Beatles at times too - which I consider the compliment of compliments!

The Palace Made by Music - worth a read
