After the demise of the Regulators in autumn ’89 the two psychobillypunks Simon and Arve teamed up with acdc/stones fanatic Steffen and jazzfunk drummer Helgar to form the legendary “the mighty dogfood†(TMD). After a televised concert at Folken in Stavanger, May’90, together with bluesman Reidar Larsen and “the September When†(featuring national pop star Morten Abel) the scene was set and this opportunity led to a series of concerts in Stavanger.

n’90 a 4 track EP was recorded at West Audio, produced by Torbjørn â€Tuba/Kodak†Solum and released on February 22 1991 after a big release party at Folken. Concerts in Bergen, Trondheim and Oslo followed, and a new 7 track EP, also produced by Tuba, was released along with a cd consisting of the 2 EPs in May’92.
By this time a new manager, Erik Eriksson (dj friendly), had appeared and fixed TMD an economical support (with a binding obligation to play a certain amount of concerts…) and this also gave TMD the opportunity to buy their own car – “the dogmobileâ€. Some strange concert experiences took place in certain places around Norway, but also bigger venues in main cities like Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim were played.
A visit to Newcastle, – a â€Cultural exchangeâ€, also took place in the beginning of 1993. TMD did 4 concerts in 1 week and stayed at the homes of local heavy-band XLR8R which also came to Stavanger to play a few gigs. Late ‘93 saw the end of the mighty dogfod and only a few “one-off†concerts have been performed since that. TMD will appear in the Norwegian film â€Mannen som elsket Yngve†based on Tore Renberg’s book. Premiere for this film is scheduled in February 2008.
