the Slant

The Slant is an uphill battle. “The songs are about struggles, but in an uplifting way. There has to be a conclusion that resolves the emotion on each song.” Says Bill Golen guitarist and vocals for The Slant, New Hampshire based Indie/Garage rockers. The band, who first started in 2002 with Bill Golen and drummer Shawn Daily. The slant had many bass players (Ralph Thompson, Dan Smith & Timm Gamgee) In 2006 they acquired new bass player Matthew Costanzo, formally off of brief stints in both Massachusetts hardcore punk band Scarred For Life and low key rockers This Silver Line. 2007 the band changed dramatically when Shawn decided to leave the group.Matt and Bill had to make a hard decision to find a new sound and with the addition Joe Mcgrath on Guitar and Adam Nickerson (of Brand Name Hero) on Drums they found their sound. Now they had to decide whether or not to continue as The Slant. That is when EQUALS was born. Since then they have been writing and adding parts to the old sound and working on material for their first EP.
