About Me

"Its all about honesty."
Not too many artists these days can say that. Too many people are writing about drugs, violence, enslavement to an addiction, and everything else; yet they themselves have never been in those situations. Self-taught musician Peter Christian can, well, honestly say its about honesty.
Here's a recent interview with Peter:
So how did the project come about for you?
"The whole project pretty much just came from me going back through some songs that i had written a while ago and wanting to put them to music. In reailty, it was more of an accident that 'You Dont Love Me Anymore' came out as good as it did...I was really only going for something basic that i could play for myself at home."
You say your songs are about being honest with yourself. Explain.
"First off, I just want to say that too many people these days are claiming to be 'honest' when in fact theyre just writing what people want to hear. I, for one, don't do that. I write what I need to hear, and hopefully thats what people want to hear."
What do you mean by "what I need to hear?"
"Honesty isn't about saying what I want to say or what I think someone wants to hear. It's about saying what needs to be said, even if it offends someone or steps on their toes a little. When I'm writing a song about an issue that I'm currently going through, I write what needs to be said to me; not to someone else or what I think I want to hear. For example: if I'm in a relationship that I know is unhealthy, there is one of two things I could do in terms of songwriting. One, I could write a song about how wonderful the other person is and how I'm 'in love' or whatever you want to call it, and never look at the reality of the situation. Or two, I could write about how I can see this isnt helping me at all and it should probably end. People want to hear the first song. But to be fair to myself and to my audience, I choose to write the second. Why? Because its a picture of whats really going on. Honesty."
To a first time listener, the lyrics to "You Don't Love Me Anymore" can seem a little graphic. Can you explain what you're trying to convey with this song?
"People keep asking me about this song, and personally I'm a little disappointed that not many people pick up on the fact that a lot of the song is symbolic. I'm not talking about taking a real gun and shooting me in the head. Thats the kind of thing you would find in a rap song or some crazy metalcore song. What I'm talking about is the memory of me the other person in the song has. Basically, the song is telling the other person that they don't love me anymore (hence the name), and to even out the one-sided relationship, they need to end their memory or thought of me; not my life."
When can we expect your EP to be available?
"I don't know. I have one or two songs that I would like to add to the EP, but I don't know when I'd be able to record them. Too much is up in the air right now to give an exact date but be looking for something around late Feb / early March-ish."
