Hi my name is Bruce Lee. I was born in the morning on November 27th, 1940, in San Francisco. Shortly afterward, my family returned to Hong Kong with me. My film career began when I was just six years old, the director on the set of my father's latest film noticed me hanging around and quickly offered me a role in the film. Since then, I've done over twenty motion picture roles.
When I was about fourteen, I discovered that dancing was a great deal of fun, my favorite was the Cha Cha, and I spent many hours practicing extremely complex dance routines. I later eventually became the Hong Kong Cha Cha Champion.
I started training in the martial arts to overcome my fear of being humiliated in a street fight. As a teenager, I found myself often getting into fights for no apparent reason, and I would get so angry when I didn't win. So I went and trained Wing Chun (meaning "In praise of Spring") under master Yip Man. And I soon became an expert in Wing Chun Kung Fu.
At the age of 19, I was becoming more and more involved with street fighting and in 1959, my parents decided to send me to live with friends in the United States. I lived in Seattle while I finished up high school and I lived in the attic of a restaurant for some time in exchange for my services there as a busboy and waiter.
When I finished high school, I started to attend the University of Washington and I continued to work nights in the restaurant. After a few months, I decided that this lifestyle wasn't right for me and I quit my job and began teaching Kung-fu. At the age of twenty-two, I authored an extremely unique book which I titled "CHINESE GUNG-FU: The Philosophical Art of SELF-DEFENSE." This book reflected my preocupation with spiritual as well as physical development in the martial arts.
Before finishing my Bachelor Degree in Philosophy, I met a beautiful girl named Linda Emery and in 1964 we were married. Shortly afterword, we moved to California and in 1965, our son Brandon was born. Then a few years later we also had a daughter named Shannon.
