FEATURED ARTIST - MODEL
www.myspace.com/liquidmodel
www.myspace.com/abstraktmindz
Extreme Sounds are delighted to announce the signing of Model.
Originating from London Model is world famous for in the dance industry for the track he created 'Sweet Harmony' whilst with Liquid. As a close friend of Ricky P from Extreme Sounds for nearly 20 years, Ricky caught up with Model to get an insight of the past, present and future times of the man simply known as Model.
Model has worldwide recognition for his release in 1992 ‘Sweet Harmony’, under the name Liquid. Un be known to many, Model originally came up with the concept whilst listening to 'CeCe Rogers – Someday’ why chilling out at a friend’s house. The track played over and over in his head, until finally, the idea clicked together. Along with the breaks and original piano loop, a mutual friend who was also interested in Music, arranged for studio time so he could bring together all the ideas which had plagued his brain. Once in the studio, they set out on an 8 hour studio session, with the final product being known to many as ‘Sweet Harmony’.This was followed up with the track being signed to XL Recordings owing to its popular demand. To his surprise, the track reached number 14 in the charts, not once but twice when it was re released in 1995. This is what led Liquid to an appearance, not only on the famous ‘Top of the Pops’ along with CeCe Rogers, but to also appear at various Raves and Clubs across the UK playing alongside the likes of Prodigy, SL2 and Grooverider, to name but a few.
Following on from the success of ‘Sweet Harmony’ the next instalment was the Future Music EP. This 4 track EP was Model’s personal favourite. The EP consisted of House (Is a Feeling), Music (Original Mix), The Year 3000 (Original Mix) and the next big hit ‘Liquid is Liquid (Remix)’, the original being on the b-side, of the original ‘Sweet Harmony’.
Due to personal differences, Model decided to go his own way. He took time out to work on various other projects. During this time he created Abstrakt Mindz Production which consists of producing Music, Artwork and Designs for all kinds of projects.
The turn of 1993 Model delved more into his roots and was a DJ at various venues across the UK and on pirate radio in London for Impact FM and Eruption FM. Alongside his long time mates Exorcist (Ricky P) and Transit, they formed a partnership know to many of their listeners as the Rave Brothers. This was to become one of Eruption’s and Pirate Radio’s most popular up front shows. During this time Intelligent Mindz Record Label was created (watch out for their Exclusive releases on www.extremesounds.org)
Following on from a meeting with DJ Zinc whilst on the Radio, Model passed on his latest dubs for Zinc to drop whilst playing out. This led to having a regular slot and putting out more music on Desires 2008 Sophisticated Underground Sounds.
For the next few years Model set about his plan to produce the Music that had been an influence on him from the start.
The pioneering (he told me to type that) Detroit Techno, Chicago House, the Soul, the Funk and the Hip Hop music of the 70’s and 80’s, hence the sound in the music Model is creating today.
He later re linked back with DJ Zinc who sent Models the ‘Next Move’ track to LTJ Bukem. From this action, Bukem signed the track to Good Looking Records offshoot Cookin Records. A second track was later released on the same label ‘In The Bush’. Model played at Progression Sessions and various Cookin Records nights.
It was time to put the next phase of Abstrakt Mindz production into action. Re linking up with some friends, Abstrakt Mindz released Models track ‘Curvez’ and ‘Tight Lipz’. With the support of Nicky Blackmarket, LTJ Bukem and Bailey to name a few, the tracks were received well. These were followed up by the release of Models ‘Third Room’ and ‘Mindz Eye’ Albums.
Model alongside Exorcist (Ricky P) entered a competition through West End Records where they finished in the top ten to earn themselves a release via West End Records. Hence being one of Models favourite labels.
Model is now ready to unleash 2 New Albums which will be released on E.S.D (Extreme Sounds Digital). With his close association with Ricky P, you can expect loads of New and Exclusive music from Model and Abstrakt Mindz, including Model and Exorcist long awaited release of their Drum and Bass track ‘Dark’.
.Model, will without doubt be always be linked to ‘Sweet Harmony’ which, of course, he is very proud of. But he wants it known, ‘that looking back is the way to go forward’
Don’t worry if you have missed out on any tracks released by Model on Abstrakt Mindz as they will be available to download from E.S.D.
