megrim began as a project in early 2007 by producers/performers Matt Smith and Dan Carity as a platform for creating music which was primarily electronic in nature. With influences ranging from IDM, downtempo, drum and bass, acid-house, electro, and industrial to fusion jazz, metal, classical, and prog rock, an eclectic and unique blend of electronic music was molded incorporating elements of all these styles. Though both dabbled with electronic music for years prior, those experiments would eventually culminate into the electronic duo now known as "megrim".
With both having prior experience on a plethora of musical instruments, namely guitar, bass, piano, and drums, and intimate knowledge of both music and rhythmic theory, every finished megrim composition reflects their combined musical experiences/ideas which permeate the overall feel of each track.
